This same thing happened years ago.

The jumpmaster went into a Superman dive and caught the guy, and opened his chute.

The jumpmaster simply said, "nobody dies in my drop zone."

There's usually an auto-open device. I don't know what altitude that dude was at when he popped his chute, but the poor bastard probably ended up in someone's backyard five miles from the DZ.
