Sounds like Dad did us a favor. Would not convict given those alleged facts.

I'm sure every law enforcement officer in that city feels shitty knowing he has to fight the charge. I wouldn't want to appear to show favoritism, but would do anything I could to make his life as easy as possible.

There were times and places in this country, when that man would be home with his family.

I played poker with a friend who was a prison guard at Florence CO and he told me about an inmate that was a really good dude.

He abducted this guy after he had raped and beat his daughter. He found a pump house in a field that was abandoned and secured him there.

He went to the pump house for over 10 days and tortured that guy until he died and left him there. He was a hardworking law abiding man who could not let this guy go through the justice system.

He only had revenge and exacting his own justice. He wanted the attacker to basically feel the pain he was feeling. Said he never regretted doing that.

I understand what the father did in this story.

But if I was in his shoes, the satisfaction of making the rapist feel absolute pain will never ever be worth being separated from my daughter and family for the rest of my life.

That in itself is a victory for the rapist. Further insult to injury. Being with my family comes first over some piece of shite getting his just deserts.

Taking a life is a heavy thing, especially in a manner that’s consistent with the definition of 1st degree murder. There has to be a price paid for it because if we don’t enforce it, society will devolve into chaos and anarchy.

This father may be comfortable paying that price but it’s going to be paid nonetheless.

My heart would love for him to get no prison time as I previously said but my mind says he’s going to prison and should be in prison.

Sometimes there are cases where there are no winners and everybody loses. It’s a big picture kind of thing here.

Clean, well placed shot. Man deserves a medal for it.

Also, this father is a hero. Don’t mess around with Daddy’s baby girl

Does jury nullification ever actually happen? Seems like such a great tool that never gets used.

The dad should have turned himself in immediately and try to claim temporary insanity. He messed up by leaving him in the trunk.

Yeah, the dad abandoning the car and living his life like usual for nearly a year is what’s going to sink him towards substantial prison time if not a life sentence.

That shows he’s a rational actor that knew what he did broke the law and fits the definition of murder and sought to avoid detection and taking responsibility if he didn’t have to as long the body stayed hidden.

He would have drastically mitigated his sentence if he took immediate responsibility. But it’s too late now for that.

I agree 1000% and I can even see going to them lengths in the heat of the moment. I can even see planning this out and killing the dude and dumping the body. But to plan this out and then go to them lengths of cracking his skull with a cinder block which likely killed him initially but them stabbing the dude repeatedly, ole boy got to be kind of tweaked in the head. All that being said I still vote this guy innocent.

I wonder if this man ever thought about his daughter that needs him the most in this time and now she’s about to lose her father for life after going through all of the shite she went through. Just terrible. At least he got revenge though

This is a point that’s not considered enough in stories like this.

The trafficker/rapist may have got what he deserved but in the long run, it was still a selfish move on the fathers part to risk forever separating himself from his daughter and family because a cooler head did not prevail.

And it just makes this story more tragic and heartbreaking when it didn’t need to.

Just think of it as his selfless gift to the rest of the world.
