I wonder how much he could sell it for to a hacker group or someone like Elon Musk that has the resources to maybe crack it.

Something similar happened to me recently with 1.7 million trx coins.

I printed a QR code and had no idea where it was.

Three years ago I apparently put a copy in a safe deposit box while hiding money from the ex.

Always have a backup plan baw.

I would have placed that password in a safety deposit box at a bank or something. And in a tamper-proof safe at home. In a concrete and steel fortified chamber. Under ground. With a patio build on top of it. With a a spare key to that chamber in a separate box at a different bank in a different state. And another spare key inside a fire proof box inside my walls.

Just to be safe.

The fact that he just had it written down on a piece of paper makes him the dumbest mother fricker of all time.

isnt there another story about a guy who threw his hard drive away with thousands of BTC and spent a year combing through the landfill?

I actually have a similar situation although it’s not worth anywhere close to that amount.

Somewhere I have a digital wallet with a minuscule amount of BC that I bought about 6 years ago. Maybe $50 worth. And I can’t locate it.

Knowing crypto, it aint even close to being a "commonly used password"

Ive held a coin that required me to use a serious of words in a chain that it generated and then there was a pin as well as some password with many requirements.

I use to be annoyed with sites that required special characters in a password, but now im more annoyed with a site that DOESNT ALLOW them. Id rather just have one very complicated, universal password.

Its hard to remember that "oh yeah this site didnt allow punctuations"

$50 worth 6 years ago or $50 in today's value?

The interesting thing is, the moment he does this would be the moment bitcoin completely nosedives for everyone.

Happens when my SSO doesn't sync up immediately after a PW change. Drives me crazy.

No shite, that's crucial. $50 6 years ago is nearly $7,000 today.

It seems like the poor guy could get the password software developer, IronKey, to remove the 10 attempts limit for him.

Or, maybe the IronKey developer could deactivate the encryption/scrambling process if the 10 attempts are exceeded.

Offer IronKey developers $10 million if they can help him retrieve his bitcoins and I'm betting they can make it happen.
