If long, extended travel delays are not an option dont use an EV for road trips with the current infrastructure.

This is the correct answer.

This is what happens when people live in an urban bubble and that bubble pops. These city dwellers are always trying to tell everyone else how to live, like driving EVs, without understanding the limitations some products have outside urban settings. This guy just learned an expensive lesson.

EVs are badass and not golf carts. Calling them golf carts is ignorant. The problem is they aren’t ready to be long distance vehicles and the infrastructure isn’t affordable yet.
We have a product that is awesome and is advancing technology. But instead of letting the market and the infrastructure build itself, the libs are forcing them down your throat. The country isn’t ready for mass quantities of EVs and EVs aren’t ready for long trips.

It didn’t break down. He couldn’t charge it and it turned into a big brick.
I bet he could see a fuel station from where he was

Anyone who has played with an electric race car as a child already knows about this.
Charge the car all day to play with it for 20 minutes.

There’s the problem right there. He had no critical thinking skills from the get go.

Some times that depends on the driver:
But even that didn’t ruin the vacation, a couple of hillbilly mechanics had the family truckster back on the road with what’s you got.

This is definitely an exaggeration. Lemon laws would have kicked in. In Louisiana, it's a new vehicle being out of service for 45 consecutive days.

EV's are okay for local stuff like going to the Dr office, grocery store or take out.
Who the hell thinks that a road trip is a good idea?
Part of the reason for the push of EV's is to prevent things like road trips.

Well they have never ran out of a charge.

On the family’s first stop in Fargo, North Dakota, it took two hours and $56 to charge his vehicle from 10% to 90%. The charge was good for another 215 miles.
On the second stop, in Albertville, Minnesota, the free charger was faulty and the phone number on the charging station was of no help, he said. The family drove to another charging station in Elk River, Minnesota, but the charger was faulty there as well.
so this guy bought an EV and then planned his second stop to be in Albertville (population 7k)? haha he broke down a few miles short of Minneapolis, seems like he shouldve planned a stop somewhere like St. Cloud (pop 67k) between Minneapolis and Fargo.
You should always give yourself a fallback plan.
there are 3 different EV charging stations in Elk River, were all 3 faulty?

Similar thing happened to me.
Was going to Destin and could only bring one person at a time due to the occupant restrictions of the car, a 2-seater. Took 3 trips and 4 fillups to get the whole family there.
Coupes will never be a viable option of travel.

Not the EV fault... was the idiot that didn't understand the costs, limited mileage on a charge, and limitations on re-charging.
Wait until he tries to resell that thing. He will also get 10 cents on the dollar for the charging panels if he pays someone to remove them.
Expensive lesson that 5 minutes research on the internet could have prevented. People not smart a lot of the time.

Shouldn’t going to an area with two chargers, in case one was down, be ample enough planning?
So having to plan out a trip from beginning to end like planning the D-day invasion is a testament to the superiority of EVs currently?
