He didn't renovate the home for a tax break. I was raised in Dville and the guy is a friend of mine. He works for APSO. The town is FULL of houses that are falling apart like this one when he bought it. If everyone followed his lead and brought those old homes back to life then the town would benefit from it. frick those old entitled assholes who are screwing with him.
Why did he intentionally ignore the city code?

Stop hijacking this thread you fricking loser.

It seems like both sides messed up here. You can't flaunt a zoning ordinance, but the city screwed up by giving him the wrong permit. The city should compensate him to switch the approved materials he used for the correct historically accurate materials and go along their merry way. Donaldsonville needs to fix up more of these blighted properties. There are rows and blocks of 200 year-old New Orleans style mansions just crumbling away due to neglect, there's the oldest still-standing synagog in the new world turned into an ACE Hardware, and the city is going to try and make an example out of a guy when they issued him the wrong permit. Actually, sounds about right.

He didn't intentionally ignore it. His mistake was starting to renovate without contacting the city about any specific guidelines (at least this is what I'm speculating). So fast forward to his renovations underway, someone notices and shuts him down. So he hired an attorney and now they're fighting it. When I was in high school a guy from town renovated his home and changed the windows out and they gave him hell too. He fought it and won.
The home was literally falling apart. When he first bought the house I asked him if I could salvage any wood from the shed and he told me to have at it. He warned me though that if I went inside the home there was a dead dog that had been dissected on the kitchen counter. It was pretty much a fricking crack house. So a deteriorated crack house with wooden windows was more historical than a renovated home without wooden windows.
And to the poster above, you are right. Dville is as corrupt as they come.

It's like Donaldsonville has no clue how the broken windows theory works.

Donaldsonville/AP is so corrupt.
It's just Donaldsonville. The rest of the parish is legit and pretty honest.
It's just that mafia and The Marcellos gang there is pretty cutthroat. Why else would Kenny Matassa still be in office while being investigated for bribery that has clear damning evidence in it?

So if it wasn't for him, it would still look like a crack house, yet they are worried about trivial shite?
frick them. If a small down like Donaldsonville "shuts you down" from doing work like this guy is doing.. If you don't stop working what will they do?
If he isn't doing anything illegal, they can't really do much right? It seems like it would be more trouble for them to proceed to do anything if he continues to work on it.

Stupid motherfrickers in charge over there. Complete fools.

Isn't Donaldsonville as entire town considered blighted?
Posted on 6/28/17 at 6:35 pm to TDsngumbo
I can't believe Mayor Leroy can't help get this resolved. Has he factored into this?

Translation; he didn't ask nice ($) before he started

in my experience, historic societies such as this, are the same rogue types that run HOA's.
HOA's are set up prior to a house being built and everyone who ever buys there knows and agrees to what they are getting into. So, not the same at all.
