. Stupid shite like this is why people are moving out of the city.

That ain't why people move out of Dville. Try a disproportionate number of dindus to law abiding, working, tax payers. I agree this is pretty stupid, but housing codes aren't causing out migration.

This is a great example of taking things too far. Donaldsonville is maybe 10-20 years from becoming the shithole White Castle has become, trying to box people in with Historic District bullshite when your town is already dying is like trying to cure throat cancer by wrapping a plastic bag around your head. As another poster said, Historic Districts are great if you have lots of people with "frick you" money to dot all the expensive i's and cross the historically accurate t's but Donaldsonville is not one of those towns.

This isn't Field of Dreams, you have to have the people there before you build a historic district.

In my personal experience small town and parish/county councils can be some of the most infuriating and contentious groups of people on the planet.

They're usually stocked with busybodies who want to micromanage and think that they are something special because of their office.

I've never felt such a lack of personal and property liberty as when I've had to deal with them. Livingston Parish council members are amongst the worst I've ever seen. They once held up a construction permit because they wanted to make sure the commercial development (small business office park) wouldn't negatively impact the "serenity" of the local area ... it was between a water tower and a lawnmower repair shop.

These are the same people who built a new courthouse and council chambers but misspelled "goverment" on their fancy sign.

It is my god damned property. If you want to tell me what to do with it then you are more than welcome to make me an offer to purchase it. As long as I'm not breaking any federal laws and not harming my neighbors then you can frick right off.

Donaldsonville bureaucracy is insane. Bunch of inbred form and procedure monkeys. And they all believe themselves so sophisticated. Ridiculous.

They care a metric shite ton on sending you to and from various officials to get your paperwork signed off on and NOBODY wants to be the first to say something is ok. Crazy.

And this is the place that blew a wad of $$$$ to buy a replica sailing ship like the French explorers came up the river in then let it sink and rot in the river. Dumbfricks.

How many years do we have to wait before siding such as vinyl and dryvit are considered "historic"?

These dipshites have to justify their existence by doing this unnecessary stupid shite, otherwise they get the budget cut because they are not needed. It's the way of the government. So fricking stupid

The city officials are a pretentious, pompous bunch with little-man syndrome. They all firmly believe they are just as good as Prairieville/St Amant/Gonzales and use the lack of traffic and the lack of flooding as an example. They really are a sad, sad population. They've always been 30 years behind and always will be. There's no changing the town.
