I never could find Jerry funny enough to listen to him droll on during his monologues. A few smirks here and there is all I could muster. I bet he was funnier if you were just sitting around chatting with him.

Was that Mama or Marcel Ledbetter's wife (Flossie?) who'd call them in to, "Come and eat a piece of pie with the women!"? I always enjoyed that line and it made me really crave pie.

deceased comedian who did folksy, clean humor. From Mississippi so the stories had a local, old-timey nuance to them. His humor was based on his pastoral upbringing.

If you don't appreciate country folk, you wont find his material that engaging.

I loved watching Jerry's cooking show. Especially when he'd say "I gar-on-tee".

grew up on jerry... my dad even took us to see him at the washington parish fair one year. well, i can't remember if it was for the fair or not, but definitely at the fairgrounds. some of his tales were epic
