You are just living in the wrong state; some states, including mine, don't allow it. These sorts of allowances in public accommodations (Title II of the Civil Rights Act) were put into effect when screwing over women was still cool, we never changed the law to include gender, so now the rabbit got the gun.

What? Or it’s just simple statistics…young men pay more for car insurance because statistically they are more expensive.

Change the law and others are just paying more for them

In all states you can charge more because someone has a poor driving record, in my state and 6 others, you can't charge more simply because they are male. People with poor driving records get charged more but people don't get charged more simply because they are male. This is a more equitable distribution of risk. This does potentially make new drivers more expensive until they reach a point with a representative driving record.

I'd be happy for them to actually use the Hardy Toll Road when leaving the airport rather than using 1960 to avoid said tolls.

Uber and Lyft offer women the option to choose only women drivers after years of sexual harassment and assault lawsuits against the companies but male drivers are pushing back with a class action suit contending that the program violates California law.

This is a waste of time. All these male drivers have to do is identify as a female. California law is on their side.

Where is the feature that allows us men to only select male drivers and skip out putting ourselves at the mercy of #metoo skanks?

Not sure can pre select but you don’t have to get in when one stops

White guys like myself wrote and promulgated laws that benefited them for centuries, and our forefathers didn't give much thought about how they would impact white guys when the rest of the country was the majority (together) and actually got a little power. So you have the whole chickens/roost and one's own petard hoisting kinda things going on.

I agree with you.

The frustrating thing, though, is white men at least built the place and could still very easily run everyone else off the field if we wanted to. The power of women and minorities is purely political.

The law can and does make exceptions, regardless of statistical evidence.

My point is that it shouldn’t be allowed to charge young men more for auto insurance.

Well that is an entirely different conversation with zero reflection on this topic.

Lyft and Uber have gotten way overpriced around here and hardly any of that price increase is going to the drivers. Instead of filing class action lawsuits, maybe they should realize they are slowing getting replaced by self driving cars and find a better line of work. Waymo is the way to go
