TCL has closed a lot of the gap on hardware, especially with their Mini LED panels. Brightness and contrast on the QM8 and QM9 are strong, and for very large sizes they offer value Sony does not touch anymore. The tradeoff is processing and motion, Sony still wins there. If this is mainly for movies and sports in a bright room, the TCLs make sense. If you care most about motion and upscaling, Sony still feels more polished.

Look at refurbished business mini PCs like Dell OptiPlex Micro, HP EliteDesk Mini, or Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny. An i5 with 8 to 16 GB RAM and SSD is plenty and very stable. Most newer ones lack VGA, but HDMI to VGA adapters work fine for basic use. Business refurbs are cheap, quiet, and far more reliable than new consumer minis.

If the two local quotes landed close, that usually means they are in the right range. The big price jump often comes from extras hidden in scope or brand markup, especially with metal.
Before picking, I would compare exact materials, gauge, underlayment, and warranty terms line by line.
I did that once using roofquotes.com just to check numbers and it helped me see which quote was inflated and which was just fair. That made the final choice feel a lot less risky.

re: Where are you baws buying your software these days?

For legit licenses, buy directly from Microsoft or an authorized reseller like CDW, Insight, or SHI. Office 2024 Pro does exist as a one time purchase, but it is usually sold under volume or business channels, not consumer retail. Avoid cheap key sites, many are gray market and can get revoked later. For a business rollout, volume licensing with MAK keys keeps things clean and easier to manage.
Jumping from 58 to 65 already makes a noticeable difference at normal viewing distance. If glare matters, look at mid range LCDs with good matte coatings, Sony and TCL usually handle reflections better than cheap panels. Skip OLED for this use case since it costs more and glare can be worse in bright rooms. A solid 65 now makes sense and you can go big later when it becomes the main TV.

This is usually an Apple Family Sharing setting issue. Check that Ask to Buy is still enabled for her Apple ID and that she is listed correctly as a child. Also confirm you are signed into the same Apple ID on the device that should receive approvals. Logging out and back into iCloud on your device often fixes stuck requests.

oHH, this is most painful ever, my condolences!

Cluster headaches, hands down. People don’t call them suicide headaches for nothing. A ruptured disc hurts, but it’s not even close.
Yeah, I’ve seen that too, lots of mentions of health issues but nothing concrete. Whatever the details, he brought personality and entertainment to Tiger fandom. Wishing him well.
This is horrific. When someone has a documented history of violence and sexual assault and nothing is done, that’s a systemic failure. Students shouldn’t have to protest just to feel safe at school. Accountability has to extend beyond the individual to the district that ignored the warning signs.
Four hours is tight for that transfer, especially with traffic. Heathrow to London City can take 60-90 minutes depending on when you land. Train involves the Tube to Bank then DLR, which is manageable but adds stress if trains are delayed. I'd book a car ahead of time rather than gambling on Uber availability when you land. I used Transfeero for a similar airport transfer, you can see the price upfront on their website when you enter your pickup and dropoff points, so no surprise costs. Driver tracked my flight and knew the fastest routes. Worth the peace of mind when you're racing a connection.
Did it for a few years. Mostly boring as hell with short bursts of stress. If you like being alone and don’t mind your schedule being wrecked, it’s fine. If you need routine or people, you’ll hate it.
The internet really can’t process the idea that some people are just built like that.
Tempe PD really out here raiding bars like it’s Prohibition 2.0. College town plus fake IDs is basically a guaranteed bust every weekend.
re: How many external storage units are you paying for each month?
Posted by Combaro01 on 11/26/25 at 11:06 am to real turf fan
Yeah, it’s wild. Every town’s got shiny new storage buildings even when nobody seems to need one. Guess people just buy too much and can’t part with it, so they ship it off to a metal box instead of admitting it’s clutter.
Looks incredible for a ’67. If it’s restored at ICON level, I’m not surprised it’ll go over 200K. You don’t see something like this every day.
re: 787’s unexpected altitude change prompts FAA proposed airworthiness directive
Posted by Combaro01 on 11/17/25 at 3:50 pm to dupergreenie
Not really surprising considering how many software updates and hardware changes the 787 has had. The important thing is that the FAA reacted quickly and there’s already a service bulletin from Boeing. That’s how bigger issues get avoided.
re: Interesting question: Is home ownership becoming the new "college degree"?
Posted by Combaro01 on 11/17/25 at 3:48 pm to SlowFlowPro
I think the part that most resembles college debt is not just the debt itself, but the fact that you get into it without any exit plan. I ended up arguing with a co-owner about selling the house and needed lawyers specialized in partition, like Underwood Law Firm, so we could separate the property in a civilized way. Since then, I see a house more as a legal commitment than as a badge to put on a CV.

Yeah it basically kills the whole point of having a return game. You’re punishing a good kick the same way you punish a shanked one. Makes zero sense.
re: Oversized pickup trucks parking diagonally and taking up two parking spots

It’s like some folks think taking up two spots is part of owning a big truck. Crazy idea: just park like everyone else
I also tried sermorelin a while back. For me it helped a bit with sleep and recovery, but the results weren't fast. Since you're already on TRT, you might feel the effects more clearly, but it still takes a few weeks. Nutrition matters a lot too, otherwise you won't notice much.
