I'll be the most real I've ever been on here.

3 days ago I contemplated ending it all. I'm still struggling with things as of today. Lot of recent events haven't really been on my side, I'm tired of always saying or doing the wrong things and not being there in the right ways that the people I love need.

I know things pass, but they also come back stronger. And as you get older, you just get more tired.

What happened to Gary Cooper? The strong, silent type. That was an American. He wasn’t in touch with his feelings. He just did what he had to do.

Thanks for opening up. It’s not easy to do on here for sure. I encourage you to go talk to someone professionally ASAP. Just do that and try to take small steps to improve things. Life throws a bunch of storms at you and things might seem bleak but the only sure way they won’t improve is if you end it all.

Seek help brother, counseling and an SSRI has done wonders for me. Also Terrence Real’s book “I Don’t Want To Talk About It” opened my eyes to male depression.

This generation of women were raised to be independent

Men were raised to be consoled and babied because of past last of acknowledgment for their feelings

Women work as much as men now
Can achieve as much education

Men now feel less stable fulfilling their masculine role/validation

Why should they feel secure in relationships if they can't be a provider, protector, leader, etc. AND also don't know how or expect the woman to do everything they do and teach them how to do the traditionally female tasks?

We have a natural desire for our efforts to matter

The biggest desire is to find meaning. It can be work, family, recreation, spirituality... Something that provides meaning to our lives.

Men didn't evolve to be drones, they evolved to be providers, conquerors, adventurers. Society is pushing for androgyny, complacency, security. None of those make a man feel fulfilled or give him meaning.

5% of depression is organic, 95% how we think. Regardless, If you are stuck in depression use medication immediately as a short term solution. Long term.......change the way you fricking think! Sounds heartless but I can tell you by personal experience it is truth!

I had a huge empty pit in my stomach and head last year, so...my life. I did a really good job of hiding it.

I had a friend who was worried contact my parents and my parents visited me and pulled me out of my funk and that littlw bit of acknowledgement set me on a path to being much better.

Listen to yourself and share your issues with people you trust and care about. It is cathartic. Not even the strongest/most stubborn person can hold up to depression.

I used to think Depression was a bunch of bullshite.

Then I went through it. Man that is some real shite.

I had days where I could barely function. Days where I apologized to my boss because I sat and stared at my PC all day and did nothing.

It is no joke.

Truth. I thrive on those kind of challenges. Day to day business is boring and meaningless. When things go wrong I'm at my best

I went through depression after I sobered up. I had to get back to finding challenge and adventure, at least occasionally
