There are no tasks that meet certain people's skills.

Therefore, what's the point.

Most of this country is pussified and will be “depressed” about anything. It’s just the world we live in now where everyone wants a handout and wants someone to feel sorry for them

There is a lot of truth in these statements. Men have been hunters and warriors for most of human history. The "need" for that level of testosterone has diminished in modern society leaving the most masculine among us to be subjects of ridicule and guilt.

A lot of really goofy low brow content does it for me.

I play the city simulator because it engages the creative portion of my brain. I care more about aesthetics than micro'ing numbers.

It can be extremely challenging most days because my job demands analytical thinking and my personality is strongly centered in analytical thought processes (INTJ).

You have to find something that allows you to be creative without requiring you to measure in any degree.

Again, it can be challenging.

That in and of itself will help most people. I realize that there are still those with brain chemistry issues that simply will be depressed. But for most people, eating right and staying positive will help alleviate the depression.

There is a vast difference in clinical depression and just feeling down in the dumps every now and then. Clinical depression can't really be "fixed" with a lot of the suggestions in here. I know, I've struggled with it, and tried many of the suggestions. Exercise, new hobbies, eating better, etc. None worked. Only thing that worked is therapy and getting to the root of the depression and addressing that. Now those suggestions are all great suggestions once the root of the depression is identified and addressed, but until then they're just band-aids.

Absolutely correct

Men crave adventure, women crave security. When our drives get muted we become depressed and anxious. Take a risk, go test yourself somewhere you've never been, fail a few times and push through to success

As life becomes easier, men become restless.

There is a good cure for this.

Go do a mission trip or volunteer in some third world shite hole and you will realize how great your life actually is.

You also learn the true definitions of want and need.

Its not a surprise. So many men’s daily lives today go like this

Wake up 5 am go to work. Get home 7-8pm after working overtime to make ends meet because your wife found Jody and you got divorced, then she took half your shite you spent 15-20 years working to attain, and you pay 2k a month in alimony/child support. Now you spend the evenings alone, cooking your own dinner, doing your laundry, and cleaning the house. You spend half the time you used to with your kids, if you’re lucky. You can’t go out and date or enjoy yourself due to these factors. So you plop on the couch for an hour or so to relax and flip on the news and all you hear is left wing pundits scream about how shitty men are and how we are the problem. So yea, no wonder a lot are depressed

My point is that there is a great number of people that spend a good portion of their day stressed or pissed about things that are completely out of their control. This adds to the people that consider themselves depressed. I am not talking about clinical depression and I doubt that the OP is either.

Example: Why does my brother feel the need to send me texts after 10pm on a weeknight to bitch about Hilary Clinton?

In my lifetime I have noted several instances of depression and sought professional help twice. Meds helped and a few sessions to kick around reasons certainly did as well. When you speak to others and throw in a comment about depression, many times you get a positive return ping from the other person.

Above all, know you are loved, stay busy, work yourself physically as best you can, and go out of your way to do some fun things. Prayer also helps when tossed into the equation for wellness.

It doesn't ever really get better but learning to manage it and medicate in healthy ways (if it's an actual chemical issue with your brain and is completely out of your control) will improve life substantially

the problem is that most men just ignore it because they're raised to be strong and quiet and just deal with shite, instead of fix shite. being mentally ill in this country is a tough pill to swallow because nobody takes it seriously until they experience it and by then its too late

Regarding the 22 veterans each day.

How big is this population?

Based on the population size and overall societal suicide rate what should be the # in this population.

I am not trying to minimize.
I just think giving a raw number with zero context doesn't paint accurate picture.
