As a tried and true AC/DC fan, I dont know how he lived to be 64. The energy he expended on stage was incredible. Im glad to have seen them live twice.

RIP

BTW, People in this thread arent mentioning Malcolms best work. Bad Boy Boogie, Live Wire, Overdose and Riff Raff are my favorites.

Geez, that’s pretty young to have dementia isn’t it?

Pat Head Summit, UT's womens's basketball coach got this around the same age.

Yes. It is “young” but not uncommon. When you get it around this age you have what happened in both cases. Very quick to progress. Says he was dead in 3 years. She had to be around the same timeframe.

Let me clear some things up for the board:

Dementia can have many etiologies. Alzheimer's is only one type of dementia, but is the number 1 etiology. All you need for dementia is impairment in multiple areas of cognitive functioning, with memory usually being the primary. In relation to the rock lifestyle, chronic alcohol abuse can potentially lead to a Korsakoff's dementia. There are also Vascular, Parkinson's, Frontotemporal, and other dementias. Depending on the etiology, dementia can start at different ages.

Strangely, Ive read that you don't necessarily die from dementia, yet ones that have it die sooner than those who do not (across all ages). My father got it in his 80's and, too, lived about 3+ years until he passed away.

True. Like AIDS in a way.

Dementia makes you eventually bedridden and suceptible to a ton of things that are fatal. Especially fatal to someone bedridden. A bladder infection is not killing a regular person but someone bedridden.

In my father's case, I am not so sure that he just didn't"forget" to eat, thus losing a lot of weight, thus becoming susceptible to more infection/ disease. Plus, like a pet or infant, he could not tell someone of certain pains they endure.
