Malcolm Young, the rhythm guitar player and founding member of heavy metal legends AC/DC, has died, the group announced Saturday. He was 64. Known for the powerhouse riffs and rhythm guitar that propelled the group from Sydney, Australia, to superstardom, Young had been suffering from dementia for the past three years, the Australian Associated Press reported.

Geez, that’s pretty young to have dementia isn’t it?

I don't know what you are talking about.

Nooooooo. One of the true great rhythm guitarist - which is rare because everyone wants the spotlight and most bands with two guitarists tend to share solos. He was always content to hang back and crunch out chords. Amazing how many great songs they had with such simple chord progressions too.

Not really considering his brain was altered probably 99% of his adult life.

I’m sure there were other factors of being a rockstar in the 70’s-90’s that would hasten the dementia

Then why don't more have it? Only other musician I can recall that had dementia was Glen Campbell, hardly the "rockstar". plus he was much older.
I wouldn't be so sure that the lifestyle and dementia are related.
ETA: plus my father had dementia. And he lived a life completely the opposite of a rock star.

How is Back in Black not listed amongst your favorites?

Maybe because I've heard it 10,000 times. But seriously, the enitre album of Back in Black is a masterpiece. One of the very, very few that every track is legendary. I can only think af a couple in that genre that meet that. Maybe Boston's first album or Fleetwood Mac's Rumors or Def Leppard's Pyromania.
