I’m shocked. One, I’m conservative as hell. Two, I just typed out what she said. I gave no opinion of my own because I don’t want this thread to be political. But nice try. Can we get back to the fire now?

My friend has a condo right near there off Sunset and N Martel. She is grabbing stuff and getting out right now.

Why are people mad at State Farm? They called it? Frankly they were right. It’s not like they denied claims. They told people you needed to pay more, which they in hindsight did, and they could not charge them more, so they pulled out.

She took a military plane back home.
She was on a tax payer funded trip which was already for dubious reasons as far as benefitting her taxpayers. Which tax payers are paying for her to try and save her political arse after all the negative publicity she has been getting?

That is a very pop.dense area with nothing but surface streets to evac. To see how fast that thing grew from a spark to filling a canyon (20 mins) and the fact its burning downhill and downwind, I dont think its an exaggeration to say this has the potential to be another Lahaina.

Correct, you cannot blame the insurance companies for pulling out. The California Dept of insurance wouldn't let them raise rates to accurately match the risk they were taking on.
Regarding bass, I voted for Caruso and Trump, but aside from it being a bad look that she was in Ghana, I can't blame her for this.
We've had fires in these brush areas every single year. The winds this year are stronger than I can ever remember, last night was insane, I thought I was in the middle of a hurricane. In addition, we haven't had any rain this entire winter or fall; everything is extremely dry.
Aside from all that, the LA mayor isn't as powerful as the city council and county supervisors.

I was just there this morning. Caught a flight to KC for work this afternoon. Was lucky to get out of Burbank without too much of an issue.
Feel terrible for her. She is scared. She just FaceTimed and I could see the flames. Not just the smoke. Ugh. This sucks.

You can real-time traffic conditions in that area. It went from green to red in 45 mins. Hollywood Blvd is gridlocked

Los Feliz has some beautiful older neighborhoods.
My friend evacuated earlier this evening. He said the smoke was just too much. He was able to send videos from their backyard and you could see the fires off in the distance but not too close. I don’t think they were in danger of getting caught up in it, but decided to play it safe.

How long ago was an evac order put out?
Was one even put out?

Being able to see the fires should be enough to convince you to flee.

Smart move on their part because you never know where an ember is going to start a fire. Pray that there aren’t any looter types taking advantage of the neighborhoods clearing out.
