100 mph gusts is crazy

who did know it would hit this week?
I guess this is a matter of do you think people should look out for themselves or wait for others to tell them to do so

LA Mayor Karen Bass was Ghana for this crisis.
You can’t make this shite up.
Arguably, situationally, it’s a net gain with her not being there if anyone else on-site will grab the reins.
This DEI shite has the Russians and Chinese (rightfully) thrilled.

Karen Bass defunded the LAFD by 23 million which in turn hampered the LAFD’s ability to put out public evacuation message. Gov Newsom didn’t fill the reservoirs from last years snowpack so there is no water in many locations for fire fighters to use.
So maddening. This is where we are failing as a society, not electing people who are there to focus on our own issues.
-plan and build public infrastructure
-grow businesses and educate your citizens
-control crime and create a safe place for citizens to live, raise families and do business
-prepare to control and respond for disasters
our politicians seem to do focus on everything except these things these days.

Southern California received above their average last year, including a couple flooding events in these exact areas.
We had a lot of rain last year, but this season has been totally dry, and many prior years were dry as well.

I am supposed to fly into OC on April 19th. I assume that area has been spared so far?

You have to remove the fuel on the ground or face disasters like this. My insurance adjuster worked the deadly fire in central Ca., and said shite was growing up into the power lines and was just a nick or two from a strong wind and boom, fire. Hard to hug a tree that's burning you dumb fricks.

Some things are just more important than your duty as mayor. Ask Teedy.

I'm sure it will be fine in 3 months, Tom. Appreciate your concern.

Listening to the scanner and the news channels and hearing the constant calls come through that they have no water to fight the fire sucks

I’m assuming the pink is where they’re extending the mandatory or recommended evacuation zones to?

The wind gusts are at mountain passes

I believe the pink is the city of Los Angeles metro, which is under a Red Flag warning of dangerous conditions lol

Damn, that's a really populated area, plus a giant water treatment plant.

It's at the sepulveda basin, which often gets fires due to the homeless. There's nobody living there, aside from the homeless.
