Apparently it’s varying temps across the grid and the system cannot manage it.
Pardon my ignorance but what the hell? Are they saying the varied temps increased power demand above capacity causing nationwide blackouts or are they saying the power variation caused failures in generation and transmission?

Do you think this was because of Trump’s tariffs?
Probably means leadership in Brussels is having a temper tantrum and are taking it out on the European people. Did they blame Putin yet?

I’m guessing they have to constantly manage a steady current/frequency on the transmission lines. Differing temps across a large region require different configurations. When you fail to harmonize it correctly, it fails. That is what they are saying happened here

There would be looting
After all the big TVs were taken and the whatever boom boxes are gone they'd notice that the stolen cell phones weren't working. The panic that there were no batteries to steal would be palpable.

Toilet paper would be iffy as water for flushing became non-existant and cholera would rule the neighborhoods.

fortunately for those of us in our own homes in south la we get enough rain fall where we can collect just enough water for that and survival from our roofs. I have 5 unused trash cans ready for just that.

Any high density area, doesn’t have to be HUD. There simply isn’t enough space for resources to support the density of apartment complexes without electricity

Their weather today, at least in Spain and Portugal, doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary today, though.

I think the latest is that they have not ruled out a cyberattack.

We will see when the event reports start coming out to the industry.

If no one has claimed it, then why? Generally speaking it’s for money, fame, or terrorism.

You are actually better staying put than to get on the road in a situation like that.

highly dependent on where you are located. within 50 miles of major metropolis, you would be smart to GTFO.

I agree and I understand, but in a temporary situation like what’s going on in the Iberian peninsula, I’d rather have the options to travel than be completely beholden to public transportation with millions of other people.

I’d be curious to see some real world data. You’d assume everyone would leave the cities.
I’d think running very quickly and beating the rush would be smart, but at some point it’s like a hurricane evacuation and getting caught in a mass exodus would likely be catostrophic
