Exactly.

They know it is poison to young minds, yet they still peddle it to children.

They could've just said "social media" and left it at that, because that's #1 by a large margin over anything else. I realize phones are tied into that, but I'd blame social media directly.

By not being a weak parent. We didn't do tablets either, it's been a non issue because it was never introduced. We have a home phone they use when needed. Works wonders.

Sounds like you're the type who let them on tablets so get through a meal out and got them a phone under 10 so they can raise them instead of you.

We're doing the whole wait until 8th thing for our son, and now that he's in 7th I still really don't want him to have a phone. Even something as simple as a bark phone.

I work at a middle school and these kids are completely crazy. Way to many screens, unsupervised social media, 99% of our problems are phone related. I use the chromebooks b/c that's what the parish has instructed us to do. I try to work with paper and pencil as much as possible. I would love to have text books again.

Flip phones are a good options. Calls/texts only. Camera sucks so bad they hate it.

I could have told you that without the research.

They also have things like the light phone

the problem with non smartphonesis that you go back to needing separate tech to complete other tasks like navigation and listening to music

however, for children this is not such an important thing. Something like the Light Phone should be plenty for a middle schooler, and maybe a small ipod or smoething

A strong nuclear family is racist, or something. Everyone needs to feel and experience the warmth of collectivism.

I might also add Travel sports. Playing for your school and in your community used to be a things.

The parks down the street are empty.
There is little to no connection to school teams taking place before our eyes.
The only people in the stands are parents
Parents have become chauffers
Kids know nothing about their neighborhoods, community main street.
Every game results in a trophy, ring, medal
You see major trend in players being burned out before senior year and quitting because they have been plying a full 24/7 365 schedule since they were 10.

It's crazy seeing trends from other countries.

Kids in Finland get their first smartphone, on avg, before they are 10 years old. That's nuts. The US avg is 12.

The US is the highest in process food consumption, but countries like New Zealand and Japan are not far behind, which I find surprising.

Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan have the worst scores overall.

I’m pretty convinced smart phones are “the devil” so to speak. And I am further convinced of this fact every time I go an extended period not having it connected to my person and instead living in the present reality.

PLUS:

Over-Vaccinations
Over-Sexualization
Bio-hazards everywhere
Toxic EMFs from cellphones and iPads
Toxic Chemtrailed air columns
Minimal outdoor activities
Minimal physical friendship development
Encouraged functional tardism, transismand fagism
Online fantasy lives replace reality

Easy for us.
My daughter's friends in 5th grade had phones and we had all gone out to a play place. Her friends were all sitting there scrolling videos like zombies.
Told them "Hey kids, y'all go play and I'll watch your phones so moviegoers takes them."
They chased each other for an hour and had a blast.

After she saw cell phones make her friends act boring, she realized she wasn't "missing out."
Later at 14, I've allowed her to have a phone with tight screen time & app permissions (not social media).

I don't even have to read it.

Social media and bad diet are bad for your mental health.

You are welcome.
