Why not go east on 20 to 55? As far as I know, there are no road closures on I55. Then come in on 12.

I know it was bad in North La and the Northshore, but this is turning out to be a joke in the NO metro area... I can't believe they closed the schools.... Morons...

That's what I thought about but I am not familiar with 55 at all, my nightmare is to encounter a closure then I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere Mississippi

I just got a text that my brother had to be rescued from the abbey in Covington... No water there besides a little rain; I'm thinking due to the bridge over the bogue falaya to leave the abbey.

Portions of I-20 westbound east of Shreveport were impassable earlier. Better check that out before making that trip.

You're right. Westbound I-20 around Gibsland is closed. I-20 to I-55 is the best bet for 225bred. That looks to be open.

Your fricking trip back to the 225 has worn me out already. Get on the road and get home already.

You're pissed off that the "morons" closed schools for this "joke" when less than 40 miles to the north of New Orleans there has been over 12" of rain in the last 24 hours? GTFO.

I was at Ole Miss for a few semesters, so I'm really familiar with that stretch. It's on relative high ground. There could be water issues on the rivers once you get into La, but I haven't heard anything to suggest that will happen.

I knew there would be people bitching about this being a bust in Baton Rouge and New Orleans metro areas. Apparently this wasn't close enough for them to think it was a good move to close schools.

My indecision has killed me. I'm just going to stay another night here in Ruston and assess things again early Saturday morning. This is a nightmare. (Relatively speaking, I know others have got it much worse!)

Your travel plans are not a pimple on a gnat's arse compared to what others are dealing with.

Dude it's killing me too. I'm a broke college kid trying to get home. I don't have the luxury of trying 20-55 south and getting caught somewhere due to flooding. I don't have money for a hotel and I'm also in a car that can't make it through any water at all.

Yes, I'm aware, I said that in a post above. I realize this is NOTHING compared to what other people are dealing with.
