WEDNESDAY NIGHT NOTES... The new 00Z model set is in, and the basic ideas remain the same for Friday.
*A messy mix of snow, sleet, and some freezing rain will move into the northern half of Alabama during the pre-dawn hours Friday. With temperatures in the 28-32 degree range and a cold infrastructure, bridge icing will begin quickly. Perhaps some ice/snow accumulation on black top roads.
*Main threat of icy travel early Friday is along and north of I-20, but icy patches are possible down to U.S. 80 and I-85 (issues there won't last long)
*With warm air advection during the day, the wintry precipitation will turn to just a cold rain over by late morning Friday with temperatures rising into the mid 30s. This should lead to greatly improved driving conditions.
*The exception is far North Alabama, where sleet or snow could linger into the afternoon and evening hours. Greatest snow accumulation should be over the Tennessee Valley, where a few spots could see 2-4 inches. Amounts will be much lighter to the south.
*A winter storm warning will likely be issued soon (for Friday's storm) for parts of North Alabama, with a winter weather advisory down into the central counties.

It's been 7 years since we've had a measurable snow here in West Central Georgia so we are overdue.
Where you at in west central GA? I escaped Gwinnett earlier this year to move out to a peaceful Haralson County. It is SOOOOOO nice to be away from that insane traffic of the metro area.

News outlets in arkansas have steadley went up on their totals. My area shows potential for 9+.. me living on a mountain means we usually get the extreme high side. Honestly pretty excited for a big snow.
It's rare enough here to be fun. If it happened a lot od hate it lol

You're not far from Whitefield Academy.

Spalding/Pike Counties. Nice area.
I hope you get all the snow you want from this, but not more than you care to deal with. Looks like you're more in the line of the icy crap though. Stay safe, warm, and dry!

Can’t wait for the whole city to shut down tomorrow. School already canceled due to sleet before the snow in forecast.

At least it looks to stop Friday morning. Getting ready to go out and get the de-icer ready to go as soon as the rain stops and sleet/ snow begins.

The more predictions I see for North Texas the more I don’t know what to expect.

I'm just across the Red River from Sherman and Paris in the dark blue. Calling for 8 or 10". I was hoping to get on Lake Texoma for deadsticking stripers but I guess I'll take the day off.

I really don’t want more snow. I’m getting sick of walking through slush.
