Madison has been named the best city to live in Alabama by www.ChamberofCommerce.org.

The site recently released their “2019 Best Cities to Live” report detailing the best cities to live in for each state. The comprehensive analysis behind this report looks at cities with populations over 25,000 and covers five essential factors: employment, housing, quality of life, education, and health. In total, over 2,500 cities were examined and given rankings on a per-state basis.

“With a median income over 40,000 higher than the state average, Madison is Alabama’s best city to live in,” said the report. “Located in Madison County near the northern border of the state, Madison thrives due to its software industry–its leading employer is the computer software company Intergraph, although many inhabitants commute to nearby Huntsville for work.”

Another article highlighting the amazing city of Madison, AL. Really puts mid-size cities throughout the Southern US to shame.

Madison wouldn't even exist without Huntsville and Redstone Arsenal. Also, I personally dont care for all the uppity Yankees that move down here to work and then act like southerners are dumb.

Also, Madison exists as it is today because of dirt. Von Braun needed somewhere secluded to build his rockets... so the took him to White Sands, NM. However the soil was to soft... but not the red clay of A-LA-BAM-A!

When looking at places to live, if it has good schools, good jobs, and low crime...being boring doesn't seem like a huge issue.

Places like Madison are blank slates that can host a nice life if everything else is good. You have a nice family, comfortable job, good hobbies, etc.

Because the town sure as hell isn't adding much to life. It's just a reasonably safe and reasonably comfortable place to live that offers nothing else.

Nothing wrong with that, but this award is basically telling you Madison doesn't suck. Contrast that with somewhere like Fairhope, which is at least mildly interesting.

Somebody post the US demographic map and zoom in on Madison and you'll see why.

ETA: US demographic map
Zoom in on Madison, or wherever you would like to look at.

Do you know how I know you’ve never been outside of BFE Alabama?
