The HSV metro surpassed Mobile in all metrics some time ago.

I'm setting up practice in Athens, so living in Madison Co. doesn't make sense, really. I have some family land out towards Rogersville that I can use but I'd rather live in the hillier parts adjacent to the Elk.

Plus, in Limestone County, we now have meth attack squirrels. So that's pretty cool.

I'd rather live in Franklin than either.

Madison is pretty much just like every other McMansion suburb in the country. Bleh, safe boring pick.

Do you do estate planning such as trusts, etc?

I only found one lady who’s an ACTEC fellow in the area, but she’s in Decatur. I might give her a visit I’m surprised there aren’t more attorneys specializing in estate planning in the area.

Also, Madison exists as it is today because of dirt. Von Braun needed somewhere secluded to build his rockets... so the took him to White Sands, NM. However the soil was to soft... but not the red clay of A-LA-BAM-A!

The story that gets told in Huntsville is he went somewhere in Texas and Huntsville and liked Huntsville better because the mountains reminded him of Germany. Maybe urban legend or maybe both are true? Not sure I'm connecting how the soil composition would matter but I'm not a rocket scientist.

I live in Homewood, just south of Birmingham and would live here 11 out of 10 times before Madison. As mentioned, nothing particularly bad about it but it’s strip malls and traffic. About the only thing Madison has over Homewood is a brewery and I’m ok sacrificing that.

I was always told that the Paperclip krauts chose Huntsville because it reminded them of Schwarzwald. My maternal grandfather worked with Von Braun, and was a friend of sorts of his, and that's what he always told us.
