Those dorms will hopefully be around for a long time. It isn't just to house 1200 students this year.
Yes. And 1,200 students times roughly $10,000 in fees per year is $12 million in annual revenue.

So it will pay off pretty quickly as an investment. Probably under 25 years. Less if there is a cafeteria that runs as a profit center, included.

According to LSU’s financial aid office, the median dorm cost for a full academic year is $10,004

Sorry if my use of round numbers threw you off.

Plus meal plan (required for freshman) and car parking (optional).

It’s a college dorm, not a 5-star hotel.

I feel like part of the college experience is living in a small dorm room and not having every amenity at your disposal in your room, so it forces you to go out and socialize with others.

I feel like we're slowly shifting to a time where you're supposed to live as comfortably and luxuriously on campus as you did at home.

Not for Power 4 schools. The cliff will impact schools like ULM but the big flags will continue to grow 1-2% a year on average.

• UG: ~34,240
• Grad/Prof (incl. Law & Vet SVM): ~5,400–5,500
• Online students (separate): 2,395

Agree. Overall enrollment will decline but not equally

Fun fact: LSU had 57,000 applicants for the 2025 freshman class and accepted 7500. Pretty cool.

This is very inaccurate. LSU’s acceptance rate is >70%. 7500 enrolled—far more were admitted.

Look at that number!

Square feet total (?) / $215MM will provide a better perspective, that and CPI on construction cost is off chart since the 2008 recession recovery

Campus needs an overhaul. Just look around the SEC.. our “charm” is just old. When you’re charging the amount of money to attend, it has to be at the same level

No way.

Top 13%. Almost like the state of Texas which is top 10% unless it is Texas which is top 5% or some such.

so $180K per kid

The capital cost or debt service would be analogous to rent I guess, seems like a lot for a bunch of shared rooms.
