Sorry if already posted, but these kids need help.

GoFundMe

Being their sole parental figure, the loss of their mother left Eddie and Enjanae without a support system. The siblings are both students at Louisiana State University, and they have been living on campus for the last semester. As of May 18th, both of their leases for on-campus housing will end, which would leave them more or less homeless. Having no means of transportation, living on-campus is extremely important for their access to resources and education. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to help raise emergency funding for their living expenses for the upcoming semester and to help pay off student loans taken out in order to finance their education.

Eddie Taylor is 22, a junior, and majors in Sports Administration. He is active in the LSU community, working with an event management internship and being a star member of the LSU Powerlifting team. Enjanae Taylor is 20, a sophomore, and majors in Fashion Merchandising and Journalism at LSU. She is an Alpha Lambda Delta officer, a PR officer of the Fashion Association at LSU, and also works as an Entertainment Reporter at The Reveille.

Both Eddie and Enjanae are very involved with their communities at LSU, and being huge LSU fans, their education was a point of pride for their mother. It is important to Eddie and Enjanae that they can continue their education not only for themselves, but as a tribute to their mom. Any donation can help create financial stability and ease the immense stress that these two young adults are facing far earlier than they should have to.

Thanks for posting. I can’t imagine what they’re dealing with. The grief I went through after my losing my Mom was unbearable for a long time.

I was told people who are homeless are lazy.

Can't they work?

Hope they get the help they need. I can’t imagine going parentless at such a young age.

I think joining the Military would be an option. They get a support system that also pays for their school.

Life is not easy at times and as they are well in their 20’s. The best lesson learned is how to survive on your own as they are adults giving up somethings to obtain other things.

They need to make hard decisions learning how to survive first, drop some extra curricular activities exchanging that time for a part time job, and college is second. They can drop down to 12 hours and work which a lot of people do while earning their college degree.

I feel bad that they lost a parent at an early age. Just do not feel bad that they have not learned a valuable lesson in life how to make decisions on time management to survive while obtaining your goals.

Have to kind of agree. I went to college with a lot of people in shitty situations.

I'm not saying people shouldn't help, just saying that at a school like LSU, there are probably thousands of students who could write a similar story/request. So if one deserves help from the public at large, then they all deserve help, which lends itself to a lot of programs and free tuition scenarios that a lot of people here are generally against.

[a-hole: ON]
The whole thing reeks of a shameless money grab tbh (referring to the run to GoFundMe, not claiming the tragedy didn’t occur or it didn’t have an effect). Making it sound like they are completely destitute without the mother.

The whole bit making it sound like they are completely homeless on May 18 with no cars and yet the sole stated purpose of the GoFundMe is for “emergency” funding for next semester and to pay off student loans is fishier than a Wuhan wet market.

Should have just left it with asking for emotional/fiscal stability without hamming it up.

Well the good thing is you aren’t forced to donate.

Can they renew their on campus housing and have it covered by grant/financial aid? (I'm not saying not to donate, I'm hoping they can get their housing covered and not have to worry about that part)

I am just shocked that no one has commented on this dude being part of the powerlifting team. He looks to maybe be 145 lbs.

Where is the father in all of this?

Let’s clown the kid right after his mother dies while he’s trying to get by and continue his education..

I know. Just that the GoFundMe movement is getting beyond old for me.

I’d probably be a lot less cynical about it if it had been posted in the aftermath of the event, not a push attempt a couple of weeks later after the campaign start with posts on multiple boards.

Did you know the kid/family? You seem to be on a really short fuse about this. Especially making a comment like that and then editing it out after realizing it was overdone.
