I may have to check this place out. Surprised that there are people in Livingston Parish that are researching ripples in the fabric of space time.

I cut timber next to the property a while back, and it fricked up their laser alignment. They had to shut down until we finished 
I know a girl who works there, and it messes it up when big trucks drive by. IIRC, their mirrors are like $100k a piece custom jobs.
Almost none of them live in LP. They drive in from BR and AP

They used lasers to very accurately measure the distances between mirrors placed a couple of miles apart. Gravity waves (created by black holes and other major astronomical events) would compress and expand “space” which would change the distance between the mirrors. These scientists were able to detect that measurement.
It’s way way more complicated than that, but that’s the basic gist of it all.
