Firstly frick your insult. There is a large number here who are fascinated with science and financially support them.

Secondly that's awesome.

Its crazy that people predicted this (Einstein) without computers but it took how many advances in science and how many billions to actually prove it?

Not the people who run this state.

Go to the Legislature.

They would just as soon replace the Foreign Languages department at LSU with a Welding School, the Humanities Department with a Truck Driving School, and Biology Department with a Building Trades Academy.

You oversimplify the situation with your stupid insults and detract from the amazing accomplishments of these scientists. You should have made two threads.

Fact is, LA does need a solid base of community college trade based educational opportunities in lieu of shoving kids into four year colleges where they don't belong or worse putting them into menial minimum wage jobs. However, that is an entirely separate issue from STEM funding you dolt. But I am sure you are one of those "I can't wait to leave LA" people so... Bye.

Only if this accompanies a new head football coach. That’s the deal.

First off, I agree that LA needs a good network of trade schools and community colleges.

Secondly, it appears that you believe LSU is being funded properly and is being supported fully by the Legislature and Governor.

Gotcha.

LSU LSU LSU!

I remembered hearing that at a LSU function I went to earlier this year. Good for her and the university.

Coincidentally, a Bama prof won for making double wides 16.7% more energy efficient.

I can't believe y'all actually believe this stuff. Lol, the anomaly or alleged gravity wave strikes right before federal funding was set to expire. Even if it did happen how could anyone possibly prove that it was due to two black holes colliding two billion light years away.

Nothing helps your cause like shitting on great blue collar jobs. Who brings the equipment to SpaceX? Oh that's right, truckers. Who welds the equipment to the engineers' specifications? Welders.

We have a shitload of humanities majors and not enough welders.

Distribution and warehousing are both areas where significant automation is expected to occur.

College isn't trade school. You go there to get an education, not to receive hands-on training for jobs.

You can get an English degree and still become an HVAC technician. Nothing wrong with that.

It is amazing that even greatand amazing things can happen and in less than one page the this thread is a complete shitshow.

This is why the best thing you do in life will be getting an english degree

Who's shitting on blue collar jobs? I'm an electrical contractor. I wire houses for a living. I crawl under houses, climb in attics, and get dirty every day.

Advocate Article on Nobel Prize

On Sept. 14, 2015, LIGO's observatories in Livingston Parish and Hanford, Washington, detected tiny ripples in the fabric of space-time caused by the merger of two massive black holes about 1.3 billion years ago. The discovery confirmed a major prediction of Albert Einstein's 1915 general theory of relativity and opened a new window onto the cosmos.

Sweden's Royal Academy of Sciences announced Tuesday that the winners are LSU Adjunct Professor and MIT Professor Emeritus Rainer Weiss and California Institute of Technology professors emeriti Barry Barish and Kip Thorne. Weiss and Thorne are co-founders of LIGO, and Barish led the final design stage, construction and commissioning of the LIGO interferometers in Livingston and Hanford, Washington.

WHAT THE frick???

How in the hell did you come up with that? You need to go take some Humanities classes and work on reading comprehension. I said "that is an entirely separate issue from STEM funding" and that in no way implies I think it is sufficient. Jesus.

Let me help you. Saying that two disparate things are separate issues in no way means that I approve of either. It simply means that they are deserving of separate discussion and consideration and that lumping them together does neither justice.
