I agree... but modern policing as it stands, does not.

They need to start with enforcing low level crimes as a deterrent. Catch and release open marijuana usage, disturbing the peace, etc.. they won’t hold up in the long run but they will deter them from being rhere..

What a frickin generic word salad.
How about do your fricking job and secure the borders of your most profitable asset in the city. Have the hard conversations, and quit being lazy fricks scared of profiling.

We take full advantage of advanced technologies, including license plate readers

If you see something that doesn’t look right, say something. By standing together and staying alert, we make LSU safer for everyone.

I saw a lot of young people on campus Saturday who looked like they didn’t belong at the game. They were not dressed in either team’s colors and were roaming in groups across campus.

Correct. Lee’s response, like much from LSU is woefully inadequate and misses the mark in a weak attempt to calm the masses. If he thought that would help, he is only adding fuel to the fire on those interested in not renewing tickets or tailgating any longer.

The LSU Parents FB page is deadly silent on this. I remember when those people squawked about everything.
They can’t.
From LSU Parents and Students group
“Good afternoon, All,
I know that many are concerned about the happenings in Tigerland this past weekend. I will NOT tolerate negative comments concerning the school or entertain any comments pertaining to what occurred. I have now banned one alleged parent/member who made a very derogatory comment pertaining to the University that their child currently attends. If you feel the need to do so, please voluntarily leave this page so I do not have to remove you. We now live in a culture where this is, unfortunately a resolution for many wayward youth. It is deplorable. However, this page is for information pertaining to Louisiana State University and its personal happenings. This is not a news outlet and it certainly isn't a page to bash and chastise. I, like everyone else am disgusted by the current affairs, but I will not engage nor permit them here. Thank you for your understanding.”

Ahhhh. Thanks. LSU is defending the scum the way I read it.

Seems they need to push the perimeter out further. It isn't the on campus issues it's the off campus issues that will turn a lot of folks away.

The FB LSU Parent group moderator prefers the head in the sand approach when dealing with issues about LSU.
Maybe it depends on who is causing the issues, but how does the group expect to be a tool for parents to get information if it doesn’t allow for open and honest discussions on problems?
The problems/issues will get discussed elsewhere instead with zero ability to provide relevant info or updates and keep discussions on topic.

What are you doing to solve crime in your town?
Getting a better security system for my house.
That’s the equivalent of what he is saying. It’s actually ridiculous.
LSU should be putting heavy political pressure on the city of Baton Rouge and the parish to clean up the crime, especially around campus.
LSU should’ve been buying up all the real estate around campus for the last 40 years. It’s not too late - yet - but it’s getting there.

Also, LSU let in far shittier students back in the 80s, anyway.
The larger issue is, if that thread from yesterday is correct, what happens with all the OTHER apartment complexes that overbuilt all around LSU?
The biggest issue seems to be with developers creating pockets of ghetto all around LSU with the "old" apartment complexes.
