As originally intended back in the day.

Don't you mean Blue and White?

It should be Washington Husky gold instead of the low rent yellow we currently use.

I thought the story was, Tulane had already claimed the green.

Tulane took the green man.

All of the old pictures I see show the colors as black and white.

always read that they were out of it at the hardware store where the P & G was purchased?

Purple and gold is fine with me. Why would we want to change it?

The original colors were navy blue and white... but yeah.

Supposedly when they went to make the uniforms the green thread was all gone from a prior Mardi Gras/maybe Tulane. who knows, I have yet to see a fact check done so it would be imprudent of me to believe anything like that.
But Purple Gold and Green would be badass imo, except it would look like a battalion of helmet wearing Perli's Mardi Gras shirts coming down the field.

Ive always wanted to see what the frick a football jersey decorated with "ribbons" from the hardware store would look like.
Everybody always skips over that part of the story like its normal.

well...we've been using one of the most recognizable color combo for over a hundred years, but I guess you're right... time for a change

Times was tough back then baw. But I bet the green could have gotten back in stock quicker had the delivery trucks just taken the BR loop to get to the store.

yep, thought about that too, maybe they were going to sew them onto the uniform?

Well the ribbon was probably going to be sewn into a white or solid color shirt/jersey as the "stripes" on the sleeves.

First game was in New Orleans against Tulane. As I understand it, I don't even know that the colors were for the jerseys, but for the fans who traveled to New Orleans to watch it. I don't suppose it was like a Home Depot type "hardware store," but more just a sort of general store that was closest to where they were playing.
I thought the story was that this store had decorative stuff for the upcoming carnival already stocked (purple, green, and gold) and the Tulane people had already bought all the green so the LSU folks got the purple and gold leftovers by default.

We should be concerned about the fact that the shoulder stripes no longer go all the way around the sleeve!

Fully expected to open up some long, tortuous story by tulanelsu. Thanks for keeping it short!
