Are you talking about her husband Scott Moran, because “he” has given many millions to LSU.

Treated LSU Health Shreveport as her own personal hospital and the providers as indentured servants requiring them to make house calls to her husband. She is also the reason the chancellor recently quit.

And is the reason she is on the BOS.

If you haven't read her bio it sounds insane.

quote:

Mrs. Moran has been blessed with positive energy and many God given talents. This spirit has led her to work in many areas of life and different industries such as having a translation business, being a homemaker, an avid volunteer for the community, supporter of LSU Athletics, having her own Christian CD out, and being an avid hunter and manager of the family ranch.

Her husband is an oil and gas operator in Shreveport.

When I look on Enverus I see no active production for a Moran Oil Company, and ShaleXP shows they haven't produced any oil and gas since 2009. This has to be their company as it is wells surrounding Shreveport, and office is in Louisiana: Moran

They produced 1977 to 2009, based on the math, the company averaged 42 bopd and 217 mcf/d. To be honest, after capex and opex, that won't make you uber rich upon it looks like 50 to 60 wells. They should've had a better Geologist. That Northwest Louisiana small oil play is where having a great Geologist is worth his weight in gold. I interned for 2 small Shreveport operators that did this. The sweet cut is a Geo can get a 2% net production with no investment put in. Public companies would never give Geo's this. Those small NWLA oil plays are not like the Haynesville Shale where you know with 0 doubt that if you poke a hole in De Soto Parish that you'll get a monster gas well 13,000 ft deep. The Petit, Travis Peak, Smackover, Austin Chalk, Hosston, Rodessa, Pine Island, Sligo, Tokio, James.. man those were fun, carefree days. Just an intern screwing around. Never wore FRs once at any site. The PETE owners both said FRs won't stop shite in a well blowout or explosion. One of them offered me beer in the mornings at work. This isn't 80s either, this is 2010s.

I can tell you my guess why it stopped 2009. Fracking has made mom & pop operators obsolete to a degree because now every 1-mile lateral well costs $10 mil to drill and complete, when it used to be $500k for these rinky dink 3400 foot wells. Hard for a mom and pop to raise $10 mil and extreme risk putting all eggs in one basket. 1 collapsed casing event, and you're f*cked. So now most producing wells belong to public companies or large privates like Hilcorp. All Mom & Pop's can do now is buy depleted fields on their last leg from the big guys, or make small non-op investments into big public company's wells. Hildebrand did that and is now worth billions.

Sorry for the long rant, just miss those days where money wasn't as big a deal.

Or maybe she lit a fire under the arse of a handful of bureaucratic deadbeats?

She is from Colombia. She asked these admin docs to make a housecall for her husband. They refused, then turned her in to the state for her little tantrum.

One will soon get a Colombian necktie.

His land wasn’t far from our place in Desoto parish. His place had some weird clauses in the lease. And there were some rumors that Exco just ended up buying all his land. Not sure. But his was a different deal for sure. Exco (not sure if it’s still called Exco) built an office there and other infrastructure.

It’s always the mega donors who get board seats and are completely unqualified. LSU medical center in Shreveport is toxic and no self respecting autonomous physician should ever work there. Let it be run by NPs and PAs….

To the tune of 700-800 million, he kept his home place though which was around 200 acres.

I completed several wells on the Moran ranch quite a few years ago. I'm pretty sure EXCO bought the property from them as they completely developed that unit.

I think it was the LSU Shreveport medical school chancellor that she forced out.

Illuminator article

quote:

David Guzick, who has been chancellor of LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport since January 2023, sent a letter of resignation Wednesday to the system Board of Supervisors, spokesman Todd Woodward confirmed to the Illuminator. His resignation follows months of speculation about his potential dismissal after LSU Board member Esperanza Moran called for his dismissal at a board meeting in September. Moran has not spoken publicly about why she supported ousting Guzick.

And here's why she'll go nowhere:

quote:

Sen. Alan Seabaugh, R-Shreveport, who represents Moran’s district, said he would support Moran despite the complaints, noting that she has Landry’s support.

Esperanza Moran lives in Shreveport and is married to wealthy businessman Scott Moran. The couple own several businesses, including Moran Oil Co., and give generously to Republican political campaigns, including Landry’s.

You can be appointed to a Board of Directors with ZERO qualifications if your husband gives to the political party in charge. This isn't a Republican or Democrat issue, it's both sides. Patronage is still alive and well in Louisiana.
