LSU announces changes to Mike the Tiger routine. No more stadium visits.

Sounds like, although we are getting a tiger, they gave in to the PETA crowd. Why do they always have to appease the fringe elements?

makes sense. probably difficult to "encourage" a full grown Bengal Tiger to leave his spacious habitat and get into a small cage to be dragged around 90K people and get poked and prodded so he would roar. we still will have an actual Tiger.

we have seen the tiger in the stadium very few times over the last several years...I honestly, had pretty much resigned to the fact that we would no longer have the tiger in the stadium...

It's got nothing to do with PETA. Unless lsu sources a tiger from a for-profit breeding operation (illegal), they couldn't get a tiger with their setup the way it was. They are renovating his enclosure and agreeing to not take Mike into the stadium so that they can achieve sanctuary status and be eligible for zoo transfer tigers that they couldn't get before.
I'd bet they exhausted all their options to legally source a tiger without complying with the sanctuary/zoo accreditation program. Unable to proceed, they gave in so they could get a tiger.

I'm pretty sure this was decided a while back by his handlers.

This was easily predicted by all fans because they have been making excuses for years. Ya boy got sick, and that was just a prefect excuse for them to quit it all together.
