For the first time in my life i booked a vrbo. A year in advance of the eclipse. 8 months after i booked it they canceled my reservation and there’s nothing now for even 3 times the rate. Screw that. When you’re taking PTO and/or it’s an event that books up in advance it’s not worth the risk.

I’ll take a hotel 100 percent of the time. I know what I’m getting with them.

Far too many air bnbs in sketchy areas and the fees plus still wanting me to clean is a no.

Depends on where you're staying. In rural areas, the hotels are generally bad and I'd rather have a big cabin instead of renting 4 hotel rooms at $150 per night.

If you're staying for only a couple nights then they're not worth it but we had one in the Keys for two months and I would much rather stay in an actual house rather than a hotel in the Keys.

I just find it funny you guys think Hotels are that clean

ETA: Let me put it this way, hotel housekeepers are literally paid at the bottom of the barrel and often times borderline illegal. Now, sure plenty of Airbnbs' maybe use similar cleaners but generally an Airbnb cleaner is making $25+ an hour.

I'm just saying, this argument is kinda like saying you prefer an Outback over the local steakhouse.

I have found ones in more touristy areas ran by peoperty management companies to be better.
Also rural areas with sketchy hotels can have better airbnb options as someone mentioned.

I just don't get this.

Book an AirBnB with lots of reviews and you are going to get exactly what you expect. It's a pretty simple rule.

As for cleaning up, maybe I'm in the minority again, but I don't mind picking up my trash and throwing towels in the washer. I would do that anyways, even if not asked.

They're good in areas where hotel options are limited...like areas around national parks.
