This is what I do. Also, I found some items are cheaper on the website (stores "can't" price match) so I'll order them for pickup with my phone and head to customer service. Only takes a few minutes for them to see the order and get me checked out.

Lowes mostly, but Home Depot for a 14x14x1 air filter. Lowes doesn't carry that size.

I've done that too with larger bulk stuff like sheetrock panels. It's nice to ride up and have all your shite stacked up and ready to be loaded.

Check Amazon for filters. One of mine is 12 x 36 and you can't find that size in stores. I order them in bulk packs on Amazon now for a decent price and free shipping.

Prices are generally the same between Lowe’s and HD, so whichever is closer.
For Lumber, Stines. The drive through pickup is very nice. They are generally more expensive for everything else though. Stines also has a better selection of fasteners. Used Stines for all my house building materials.
