I use to build homes somthe local yard for my house package.
Small items It does not matter I buy a little from both accounts.
While I was helping someone redo a house in New Orleans I would buy a little more from Lowes on Elysian Fields over the HomeDepot by the superdome. I found that The Home Depot by the superdome was hard to get on and off the freeway.

Just a tip, the Ace Hardware app can often tell you what they have in stock at the store on Highland. It's not always accurate, but I've actually found it to be more accurate than the Lowes or Home Depot apps at telling you what's in stock, which is surprising since Ace is just a coop of locally owned and operated hardware stores and not a chain like the others.

When faced with 2 stores simular in products/price we look into the stores policies and check their moral compass. Being Conservative Christian country folks, there is no question Lowes for sure.
Other places we go to forsure but they weren't on the question

Lowe’s, and it’s not even close. Much much cleaner stores, at least here, that’s for sure, and much better shopping experience overall. Price is pretty much the same as they both shop the hell out of each other on a weekly basis.

Home Depot. i had 2 very bad customer experiences at Lowes, so i only go there if HD doesn't have something.
i'm sure they were unique and based off the employee that sucked, but every time since then i've needed customer service or had legit project questions, HD has had a good person there to help.

Depends on what I'm looking for honestly. Home Depot sells Milwaukee, Lowe's doesn't and I have a lot of Milwaukee tools. I do like the layout of Lowe's tool area better than Home Depot though.

lowes generally has cheaper prices on the exact same appliances plus more choices.
home depot generally has better prices on most other things besides appliances, especially on lumber and building materials

Home Depot because its on my side of Ambassador Caffery. Turning left out of Lowes is a bitch. Used to also be because they email your receipt when you slide your credit card. That doesn't matter much now that you don't have to have a receipt to return items anymore.

Also, got way too much runaround about a new fridge being delivered when I lived in BR as Home Depot contracts out to Bayou Warehousing and the back and forth blame game started. Got my refund after a whirlwind and told Lowe's (Millerville) about what happened and they not only knocked 10% off my new fridge but also waived the delivery fee.
