Now imagine him being unable to grab an AR

We’d probably be talking about a mass stabbing, bombing, arson, etc. The point being, someone crazy enough to kill a bunch of people would have figured out another way to go about it. See all of the Japan examples posted in this thread. It’s time dumbasses like you stopped blaming inanimate objects like guns instead of looking at the real issue. There are mentally ill people all over this country that are not provided the proper help out of fear of offending someone. We used to lock people up in the loony bin, now we celebrate mental illness. It’s a culture and society problem, not a gun problem.

So banning ARs would completely take them out of society?

Think you're onto something. Idk about your solution though but I suppose now more than ever you have materialistic sheep who think their life is measured by what current year society tells them it is.

Oh and this, we need to bring back institutions. Obviously not how they used to be but they need to come back in some form.

Beshear had a good press conference. No calls for change, no preaching. Just focusing on the victims and the community

It will never go away unless you use the surveillance state to round up the mentally ill psychos and get rid of them. That will never happen so you have to just hope it never happens to you.

On the bright side the police response times seem to be fast now. That used to not be the case with Uvalde, Parkland or Vegas. This and Nashville had fast response times.

When they are performing their obligatory military service, yes it is.

So the truth is:
quote:

All healthy Swiss men aged between 18 and 34 are obliged to do military service and all are issued with assault rifles or pistols which they are supposed to keep at home.

As of 2023, only 20.3% of Switzerland's population were between 18 and 34 years old. In addition, women make up 50.3% of Switzerland's population. As such, the only people who are "required" to own guns are a very small percentage of the total citizens of Switzerland. So it's a bit disingenuous to make a blanket statement that "citizens are required to own guns," when it's a very small number of the total.

Who determines who should be locked up? Therein lies the rub. Where's the line to detain someone in that way? And if its government entities that are deciding, that becomes a very slippery slope very quickly.

agreed. But we have a ton of street people living among us that should be institutionalized. And I don't care what anyone says about trannys, they're fricking ill and need to be institutionalized as well, instead of celebrated. (not that this guy was either of these to my knowledge. I'm speaking in general terms).

As to this specific incident, inasmuch as his family members apparently were on scene so quickly, they must've known something was up. Wonder if a different outcome would have resulted if he had tougher treatment regarding his "feeling depressed"?

I mean do you think the gun stops working when the males turn 35?

There are almost 3 million privately owned guns in Switzerland with a total adult population of around 7 million.

That’s alot of guns

I can’t keep up with the wave of messages/replies I’m getting but I’ll just say this - we will have to agree to disagree y’all.

I wish y’all well and thank you for letting this be a place where differing opinions can be expressed without people trying to get each other canceled!
