Typical. I'm not surprised. The same assholes that lied about opiate addiction get to decide on kratom.
Kratom has a couple negative effects but far far far less than painkillers.

Last time I checked marijuana was illegal in Louisiana

MDMA began as a marriage counseling drug. There have been several studies that link psychotropics to relieving the effects of PTSD and cluster headaches.
See, my position is that things like this need to be ethically produced, with rigorous standards, and in the hands of qualified, ethical people.
Not some gangbanger selling pressed pills with 90% bullshite.
If you criminalize what should be a legitimate business you turn legitimate businessmen into criminals and open up the black market to abuse and adulteration
You’d think we’d have learned our lesson with prohibition

Louisiana taking another stab at making kratom illegal to appease Big PharmaSo you would prefer that a chemical that supposedly works on the opioid receptors in the brain and can be used as a sedative be completely unregulated and with no oversight into production or dosing? And the claims by said manufacturers not subject to any review or approval by the FDA... Got it.
This was my first thought. My second was "This dude is picking this hill?"

Do you make a habit of hallucinating shite to argue against? The op talks of idiot politicians declaring a non lethal substance as schedule 1 and therefore having no medical use.

As a non drug user I prefer to have the government not tell others what they can put in their body.
And yes the whole war on drugs has been so successful so far that we should double down.

Are we going to ignore the Louisiana medical marijuana dispensary that sold to its first customer yesterday?
I guess one of us is.

Question.
How is marijuana a schedule 1 (no medical use) when marijuana is medicinal in most states.

I never tried it, but knew someone with an addiction that beat it with Kratom.

I normally agree 100% with you on this. Until I watch the news and some "methhead" in LP is on for cutting out his unborn kid from his wife's stomach after having snorted "bath salts" bought at fricking convenient store legally.

Haha. Rickety Cricket is a Kratom junky. You fricking pathetic loser.

This is another instance of Louisiana going backwards.
Kratom is not nearly as addictive or strong as heroin, and is not an opiate.
My guess is Chris Turner is being paid by lobbying groups or is just doing it for his own wellbeing (pharmacy).
How about our dumbass politicians actually improve Louisiana's economy which benefits everyone and stop dabbling in trivial matters such and controlling what people put in their own bodies.
"Small gov conservative"

Kratom is some nasty shite still. I dont think anything should be illegal, but it's not exactly safe either.

In prison, of course!

The whole point of the FDA review process is to make sure the shite actually does what we think it does and is not actually bad for you. And their claims are required to be supported by clinical evidence that stands up to peer review.
Read the book Bottle of Lies. It'll change your outlook on the FDA and especially generic drugs.

Guess it depends on the person.
I've done kratom about once a week for a couple years now. Sometimes go weeks in between, no addiction at all and is about as inebriating as 1 drink.

I've been taken it daily for five years. When you first start you get a very mild buzz similar to a caffeine buzz but on the mellow end instead of the shaky end of the spectrum.
After a couple weeks it doesn't do that anymore but it still helps my anxiety and greatly reduced my migraines so I still take it.
It's a plant in the same family as coffee and tea and its just ground up leaves if not tampered with. Don't buy the stuff at gas stations not only is it a rip off but I don't trust it. You can get it online reasonably priced in bulk.
