Louisiana should not have a legislature.

Surrender the state and all its responsibilities to the Federal Government for a period of 10 years. Let them appoint a governing body from a pool of administrators that have zero connection to the state.

Let the people vote on a "governor" but that office will be ceremonial.

Review the arrangement at the end of 10 years to see if the populace is capable of electing people to positions of power. The populace is not capable of doing that presently.

Now that this has come to light, how can it not be overturned? Why would a representative from an area other than EBR support this?

Depends on what other sweetheart deals are hidden in the budget somewhere.

I’m sure Orleans, Lafayette, Calcasieu, etc, have their own deals where they get all the state revenue for something.

I didn't vote for Edwards, but I'd bet the house that whatever Biden would appoint would be infinitely worse for the state of Louisiana. Silver lining would be that the ties that keep me fighting and staying down here would probably leave if that happened.

Cathey was in the wrong here, and to his credit, he apologized. When you curse another Senator while poking a finger in therei face, your are asking for trouble.
I support Cathey's objective on this bill, but he needs to work on the way he deals with people.
Neither Cathey nor Barrow are geniuses, so they are both lucky Broome intervened and calmed them down

So it is just the legislature and not both? Just the legislature is holding the state back?

They do the majority of damage but sure put ANY elected official in Louisiana in that group.

The people of Louisiana are not collectively smart enough to elect people to any office.

That revenue should be shared across the state. BR and it's political representatives are just wasting most of it, I'm sure.

While its true that it generally takes a legislature and a governor to create change, good or bad, Bobby Jindal single handedly did more damage to this state than anyone in my life time. He had a compliant legislature.

The confrontation followed debate over Cathey's Senate Bill 193, which would redistribute $7.5 million across the state rather than the entire amount go to East Baton Rouge Parish.

Cathey said the ad valorem tax is collected on the value of railcars throughout the state, but East Baton Rouge receives all of the revenue.

As an EBRP resident, Stewart is 100% correct. SWB is a fricking money vacuum. Sucks it in and the results left in the dump. We can't even legally incorporate St George.

Broome and Barrow are on the same side of things as far as black BR politicians go. I think Barrow is going to be challenged by Chauna Banks in her next election. Chauna, of course, is part of that Denise Marcelle/Cleve Dunn/Gary Chamber side of things. If the OT were able to vote in that election, who are they voting for? Banks or Barrow?
