That’s about what I expected the shithole list to look like.

4th is better than I would have expected. I figured we'd be running away with that crown.
Baton Rouge averages over 500 non fatal shootings per year with a population of 230K or so people, which is extremely high.
There’s only been 29 homicides this year for EBRP. It’ll be interesting to see what the final tally will be and if triple digits will happen for a fourth consecutive year.

For St Louis to be that far ahead of Nola… goddamn what is going on there?
Native St. Louisan here. In this instance its a statistical anomaly. Not to say that St. Louis is anything less than super dangerous, but it always ranks at the top because of the way "city of St. Louis" is defined. The greater metro area has around 2.5M people but the "city" literally has something like 10,000 very dangerous residents. St. Louis County stats are kept separately as they are two distinct governing agencies (the two divorced a long time ago due to a 1% city tax that the suburbs didn't want to have to pay, businesses, moved out, white flight, yadda yadda..).
In other words, imagine if the city of NOLA was only the 9th Ward with no Garden Districts and nicer areas to dilute the crime stats.

Non suicide gun violence is highly concentrated. It afflicts blue dots in red states. Whenever people go in on the red states having the most violence, if you look closer, it’s always in the blue enclaves primarily.
Culcha is the driving force, not political affiliation. Most blacks in urban areas don’t vote.

With the two consecutive year murder capitol, Jackson, MS, not making this list, i question it.
Yeah, the full data set MoneyGeek Studyonly includes 263 cities and oddly doesnt include Jackson, MS or Jacksonville, Fl
Article is garbage. It references a Forbes article rather than the original source (Moneygeek) then references the state rankings based on 2017 data. So, old data and Moneygeek data seems to be incomplete missing cities within same population range.
"Journalists" like this will be among first to lose jobs to AI since they bring no analytical value or perspective on statistics used or methodology to the table.

I have noticed we are trending a little more towards the 20 yr average this year which I'd guess is about 75-80. But who knows where we'll end up. We could have 15 in June.

I've been hiding out in a cave for the past few years and was not in touch with the outside world. Now I'm out and wondering WTF?
Aren't these predominantly white populated cities?
As a man of color, am I not safe in 3 cities of my home state because of this epidemic...a.k.a. white supremacy?

Can we list who the mayors of each of those cities are?
100% that is a huge answer

The SEC is good at sports and homicides.

I went to Birmingham recently and never once felt unsafe. Seemed really nice. Where is all the crime coming from?
Posted on 4/28/23 at 12:05 pm to stout
Really didn’t know Milwaukee, Little Rock, and mobile were that bad

So the majority of gun violence in this country is black men with handguns.
Posted on 4/28/23 at 12:45 pm to stout
We may not have the top, but being 8, 9, and 10 is damn skrong
