How does that compare to private school averages?
The median at Newman is right around 29. Jesuit was around 28 a few years ago. Episcopal was a little above 27, Catholic was 26.5, St. Joseph's was 25.6

Those are curved as a mf'er.

NVM
Not the amount of students at the school - just the ones who took the ACT

359 students, most of whom have parents who 1) care enough about their education to move to that school district and 2) can afford to move to the district. You're right in suggesting that it's a biased sample.

Now do the private school students and let’s compare

Where are you getting that number?
Probably from the chart in the original post that lists how many students from each district took the ACT.

It's in the OP. I'm guessing that's just the number of kids that took it that year. Still seems kind of low out of 1500-1600 students in the HS.

The difference is that to attend a University you have to have to grades and be able to meet the test score criteria. In other words they don't waste their time sending people who do not belong in a University to one. They send kids who are not as smart to vocational schools or trade schools and focus on training them to become part of the workforce.
this is exactly what we should do in America... and just like in Germany, we should make it free...
i'm all about making college acceptance very, very hard if we (and i think we should) make colleges tuition free...

I'm so sorry! My homeschooler scored a 30. Not in LA. And only with self study.
20-21 considered average. Wow!

Zachary is supposedly the #1 school district in the state with an average ACT of 21.9.
21.9 sucks.
Where does a 21.9 stack up against the top school districts of other states?

It’s incredible how bad the culcha districts are at the ACT.
Which makes it even more obvious why there is a push to de-legitimize test scores. If you make scores irrelevant, then it’s obviously racist for not hiring people of color

I'm only finding 2017 official stats, so here goes with composite ACT scores:
Maryland 23.6
Virginia 23.8
DC 24.2 (this makes little sense, unless it's skewed by all of the prep schools in the District)
Louisiana 19.5
Now, Yankee land usually goes for the SAT and less so for the ACT.

Don't think so but Louisiana does push for every kid to take it. No one is forcing kids/parents the shell out $50 though

Not surprised by Bossier Parish.
Very surprised by Caddo Parish.

Not really. Concordia Parish has Vidalia in it which is far better than anything in the shite hole of Tensas Parish.
But you have to go through Ferriday to get to Vidalia.
