Vernon is the shocker to me. It would be shocking to anyone that’s ever been to leesville.

Looking at the the states there are some interesting trends. Starting at Virginia and working up the east coast are all the states with the highest averages. The only outlier is this is Michigan.
The opposite is true when you work down the coast from Virginia and throughout the south. The outlier there is Nevada which has the worst average scores in the nation.
Georgia and Florida are the winners in the south with average scores of 22.0 and 21.0.

3 point difference between West Feliciana and East Feliciana seems crazy to me. Is West really that much different from East up there?
Most white kids in Clinton go to Silliman, not EFHS. White kids in St. Francisville go to WFHS.

Look at the participation rates in some of those states.
It’s like 8% in Maine and they got an average of a 23. Kids in the northeast typically don’t take the ACT, just the SAT.

Among states in which at least 80% take it

Correct. Much more SAT takers on the east coast. I do believe that if we looked at average SAT scores the trends would follow with outliers here and there.

Damn Lafourche better than I thought.
Esp considering the Highschools suck. I guess places like Golden Meadow, Chackbay, Larose primary schools help out during developmental stages

Look at that shite. How are you graduating and can’t make an 18 in fricking reading? Can you read? Yes? You should be in the 30s.

I'm shocked that Ouachita parish scored as high as it did
Ouachita Parish and Monroe City Schools are separate districts.
ETA although Monroe schools didn't do terrible.

No true... The biggest difference is that America encourages every student to go to college and take this test. Other countries identify students who would perform poorly and put them in trade school type classes. If America would do the same we would be higher, but we are scared of hurting feelings.

Additionally, Europe doesn't use a university degree as a gatekeeper. A technical diploma doesn't bar you from management, and even upper management.

Tensas Parish, wherever the hell that is
Exactly.
But, it's better than Concordia Parish. At least Tensas is Ferriday adjacent, not Ferriday containing.

Since I moved back to BR a few years ago, I've started to think that "hey maybe that whole eugenics thing did have a upside!"

It is embarrassing and I've written to Louisiana higher up in education, and Congress about making radical changes to our education and making Louisiana the first to do so. The only reply I've received is an, "we will gave to research this further."
