These weather forecasts are just like the hurricane cone. If you tell me there is a 100% chance of rain 6 days from now and then it “changes” sometime between now and then then there never was a 100% chance of rain. And every time you see one at a bar they are all uppity with women hanging all over them like they’re the second coming or something. Can we just replace them with robots already?

Humans are consistently better than the models (robots) at forecasting weather. But as you can see as the models get better humans get better.

i swear every time we have a major winter weather event in louisiana the forecasters deny it until like the day before or it starts happening

Like That douchebag in BR in 2018 that was on Facebook shaming people for trying to wishcast snow while people were literally posting pictures of their yards full of snow on his threads.

I’m in NOLA, but need to get to Tennessee for a family health emergency that may require weeks. Not sure what to do. Need to be there, but also can’t risk my pipes bursting. Trying to put it in the hands of the Man upstairs and just do what I can do.

Any neighbors or friends who can keep an eye out for you?

ICON comes in colder and wet giving more ice to the area.

GFS starting now.

NOLA is mostly wet since it doesn’t get to freezing until after the precipitation moves out.

GFS comes in with more widespread ice and cooler temps into lower teens after as a result.

Looks like a lot will depend exactly where the freeze line will be. A degree or 2 will make a massive difference here for a wide area.

Turn off the water heater and anything else that uses water (ice maker, etc), close the water supply valve at the meter, open everything up in the house and blow air backwards through the outside faucets. It should blow the water out the lines. Open the cabinets and leave the heater on just set as low as possible.

Thats what I would do. Good luck.

That’s a lot of skeet

And it’s not going to melt when it lands like winter precip does often in LA because the ground will be more than cold enough after prepping for a couple of days to where it can accumulate.
