Pretty cool article from early back in January that forecast this arctic blast due to the polar vortex being knocked off its axis and “splitting” in two.

Shut off the breaker to your hot water heater, shut off your water main, and open every indoor hot and cold faucet.
You will have to purge a lot of air and wait several hours for hot water when you come home, but that will assure you don't have any busted pipes.

Tie and slacks still on...

That is the classic "taking a harder look" phase of the Jay Grimes scale

Copy this down and send it to everybody you know

quote:

The Real Jay Grimes Scale:

Slacks and sleeves down: Just following for now
Slacks and sleeves rolled once: taking a harder look
Slacks and sleeves rolled twice: potential issue
Slacks and sleeves to elbows: taking serious notice

Jeans and sleeves down: serious notice/potential issue (day 2)
Jeans and sleeves rolled once: cat 1
Jeans and sleeves rolled twice (tie off): Gustav bro/cat 2
Jeans and sleeves to elbow (tie off): we got something serious
Jeans and wife beater (tie around forehead): kiss your arse goodbye

That jackass was ridiculing people on social media who were talking about this possibility two days ago.

You also need to blow the lines out with air to be freeze-proof

No local met, particularly in the Southeast, is going to put out a public forecast for winter weather more than five days out.

I took that screenshot Wed(10th) and now either 31 or 48 was giving out a warning of .25" of ice Sun night into Mon.

I wouldn't bust on dude so bad if about 5 months ago 19 didn't even give out a tornado warning south of Russellville and if not for Spann on Twitter no one down there would have known and dudes response was they didn't break into regularly scheduled programming for Willie nillie weather.

Dude is a pretentious çunt.

Tv stations don't issue tornado warnings*, the NWS does. The only way you should count on warnings are weather radios. Thats on the public to buy them, not the tv station.

*Unless you're a pretentious loser like Mike Morgan in OKC.

You serious, Clark? I really don’t know. I’m in a rental... shotgun double. One main waterline to both units. Raised, all intake lines are underneath. Kitchen and bathroom are only inside faucets. I don’t want my stuff to flood or for my landlady that I love to be damaged with no one here. I’ll try to find someone I trust to come over, because it’s really important that I be with a sick relative.

As of right now New Orleans isn’t going to have any major issues. Tuesday morning will be the coldest morning and it will be in the mid 20s. One night in the 20s isn’t going to cause many problems.

Thanks, Boat. I’ll let the fact that you’re a Duke fan slide, and that Jim Valvano is my hero.

I sure hope so. I remember when we had a a few days of freeze (2 or 3 years ago) and so many pipes burst to the point where the water pressure dropped.

It sucked and hopefully we can avoid it this year.
