Just did a search and it is an old pic from somewhere else.

Arkansas has plows and knows how to treat the roads.

I'm surprised Texas doesn't have more capabilities with how bad the winter weather can get in the panhandle every winter.

So the state that typically gets snow has some snow plows on hand?

Look more closely and you may also notice: AR side the businesses are open and TX side is all shut down, vacant.

The panhandle might as well be given to Oklahoma

It's almost like we knew this was coming a week in advance. It didn't sneak up on anyone.

It only snows 2 inches a year on average in Texarkana. It's not like they have plows and treatment on location. Arkansas was prepared. Arkansas had to move their equipment from the NW part of the state some 250 miles away so distance isn't an excuse.

I've got a layer of freezing rain on top of a layer of sleet on top of a layer of snow on top of a base layer of sleet. Whats on the ground is like a frozen solid snocone

It seemed to sneak up on decision makers in Texas

Its crazy walking around outside

most of the time, you just walk on top of everything because the top layer of ice/sleet is so thick, but if you break through, you almost break your ankle because you then fall through 3" of ice and then 6" of snow

Got power back this morning. Woohoo!
Just need some sunshine and above freezing temperatures to melt all the ice now.

do you think they might have needed those guys and equipment in the panhandle?

Your point is still valid. I'm just saying the limited individuals in texas that know how to deal with that were probably busy where it typically happens.

its still a shite show.

What you’re also saying is that the folks on the west side were too busy to see the folks on the other side of the road using backhoes, highway sweepers and anything local that they had available at the time..

There’s highway departments with backhoes and sweepers in both towns. There’s also rental stores on each side of the street. So, what’s the next excuse, windmills?
Or, are you sticking with “too busy”?
