21 degrees and heavy sleet in Cenla. Good news is that it is sleet instead of freezing rain. Still have power.

Dog had to piss around 2:30. She came in wet from the rain, but my driveway, power lines and trees had ice. Not as bad now, but still not good. Upper 20s in my hood.
Guess I had the combo sleet/freezing rain.

Oh boy...looks like we already lost power from Entergy here at the station. Fortunately we've got a generator. A little worrisome to lose power this early in the event.

I was on government when that happened. Surged once. Twice. Flashes everywhere and then nothing. Power is on two blocks down.

Ice piled up quickly the last couple hours. Citrus tree looks a little rough.

It's pretty damned slick out there. Finally home. 3 hours to drive 100 miles. Not terrible. And the ol lady is home safe.

My arse is dead. Wake me when the snow hits.

Ice may help as it acts like a shield from the wind.

In strawberry country, they will coat the plants with the sprinklers to form an ice layer. The ice will keep the plant at 32 degrees while outside it could be much colder.

Yeah I thought about hitting it with the sprinkler. Used to run around with a Becnel chic in college. She said that would help save some trees.

I-10 W/B at LA 415 CLOSED IMMEDIATELY due to winter weather and freezing conditions. DOTD will advise when the road has been re-opened.

Cozy little snow/sleet mixture in Lafayette. Almost enough to make a nice snowball.

Just got up to look outside. Popsicles on the electric wires. Ran the hot water which took 50 seconds to get warm. The fact that I can count that is a good thing. During hurricane season, water is more important than electricity but I rather have electrify over water in this situation. I stored some water for cooking and minor stuff. I can go a few days without shower but no electricity would be disaster.
