You realize your in-laws up here near Birmingham aren't forecast to get this storm hardly at all.
Maybe some freezing rain Monday night.

Which, on second thought, probably means we'll get inundated with ice.

94 storm brought down large transmission power lines and towers. In Greenville they found ice 1 foot in diameter on power lines

I don’t doubt it. I was closer to Tupelo and it was still really bad. I hope we never see another situation like that one. The damage to trees and the power lines and poles was unreal.

San Antonio getting ice right now.

Lawton OK picking up snow earlier than expected.

Snow is more than likely going to show up earlier than scheduled.

Austin baws watch out because the ice is heading up that way.

Yeah I talked to my FIL about an hour ago. He usually calls me on Saturday after he's had a few beers. He said y'all weren't expecting much out of the norm.

He used to be on KALB. Hasn't been on there in a while. I gather he's in some other line of work now and does weather as a hobby.

He and his wife run a clothing business now, mainly stuff like making t-shirts for order, etc.

Nick use do some accounting side work when he worked at KALB. He came out to my father's place 2 or 3 times a week to do his books for his businesses.

Nick is a super nice guy from my experience with him. He does consulting work now on the side for KALB I believe.

was thinking the same thing. Crews have been clearing branches off power lines since the hurricane as well

I'll give swepco credit, in the last 2 days, they've sliced every tree, bush, and branch anywhere close to a power line up here south of shreveport.

Looks horrendous but gives me a sliver of hope. Unless some bozo plows into a pole.

I don’t get why some people in the south, especially the Deep South, say they love summer. Fall and spring are good. Plenty of 70 degree sunny days with little humidity. The winter can get cold but mostly not freezing. But the summers have plenty of days with a heat index of 100+.

Breaking a sweat without moving makes me feel healthier. Don't fat shame me you bigot.

I’ve lived across the country. In really cold climates. Losing electricity because it snowed or iced was never a consideration. Why does this god forsaken state have such piss poor infrastructure?

Meteorologist Nick Mikulas
Here is an updated parish by parish forecast. This is a tough one. For once, we aren’t riding the freezing line, wondering if it’ll be wet or wintry. My stress is deciding what combination of freezing rain, sleet, and snow we will see. It’s looking like 3/4 to 1 1/2 inches of liquid equivalent will fall with temperatures between 22 and 30. Let me type that again because it’s so off the charts crazy. It’s looking like 3/4 to 1 1/2 inches of liquid equivalent will fall with temperatures between 22 and 30. I’m thinking we may get “lucky” and see a lot of sleet out of this, which would mean a lower threat for power outages, but we are riding a fine line on precipitation type. Here is my evening parish by parish breakdown. The main change is a slight increase in snow and sleet accumulation in the northern 2/3 of the area. I kept freezing rain accumulations the same for now, as total precipitation looks like it’s increasing. The main idea here is that this will be an uncommon, impressive, historic storm system for our area, and many other areas of the country. Then there’s another threat on Wednesday. Let’s not go there yet. Let’s focus on this first batch of crazy, then deal with that if we have to. I’ll update things an hour or so after I wake up tomorrow. I’m trying to sleep In because we all know I’m not sleeping tomorrow night, so that’s probably a late morning update.
