How much of a pickle am I going to be in trying to get from Slidell to Lafayette on Tuesday around mid-day?

I can tell you one thing for certain, that trip is going to be a really big dill.

chances of that happening are at least 50/50

Out of our last 3 outages, we're 2 for 3 so I think I'm taking the over.

Well I’m as prepped as I’ve ever been for a storm in north LA. Generator full and 4 five gallon cans ready, propane full and ready to run fireplace and enough food to feed a small country.

Which means it’ll just be all snow where I am and the power will stay on.

In my world, that means 100% chance of safe, uneventful weather.

I have a handle of vodka and 75 rolls of toilet paper. Should be good.

Depends on whether or not the sun actually comes out in a big way tuesday.

A few hours of full sun will do a number on ice

I have a fireplace. Freezers will stay frozen. I don’t see a need for a bunch of prep. I’ve got two 2000 Honda’s ready. For lamps

That’s about it

You know that feeling when you watch the local news and the "Locally Heavier Accumulations" color is centered right over your house? Yeah, I just had that.

I would gladly waste a couple hundred bucks to avoid an inch of ice

Losing power with 2 toddlers is a different animal. Add in cold and boredom and it's a recipe for disaster

That’s where we are. My prep was mainly that I have a pier and beam house. So closing vents and making sure all pipes under house are ready. Then I had to make sure all the outside spouts on the property and in the pasture were properly covered. I bought 100 rags from Walmart and 2 rolls of duck tape. It’s going to take 45 minutes to unwrap them when it thaws up.

I’ve got a generator to run my well pump if we lose power. Other than that the fireplace is all we need to keep us warm. Let’s get this winter storm going.

So the rain bands that we’re gonna accumulate the most ice appear to have shifted south and east
