You're probably factoring in corporate taxes which is a little misleading because LA waves or reduces a ton of those for large employers.

So does every other state, many of which have way more corporate incentives than Louisiana. Though that Buccees deal in Ruston was pretty incredible

And using percentage of income really isn’t a good metric. A lot of people in Illinois make money and it has a flat rate where as Louisiana has a shite ton of poor people and a progressive rate. Illinois rate is still higher, but just using as a percent of income doesn’t tell a great story

It’s sales tax. And I’d rather sales tax over property or income.

Roads supposed to be paid by our high gas taxes...But they thru in lawsuits for substandard roads...so the funds basically are drained by the lawsuits thus continuing to have substandard roads, thus more lawsuits and the cycle continues

And you have the lowest property taxes. When we moved from Louisiana to Texas, our taxes went from $ 88.00 for a nice home to $3000.00 for our home in Texas. WE were in shock!! It's a trade off !

No longer live there and could care less. Louisiana has ZERO future IMO. Many accept corruption like a way of life, and vote absolute morons into office. Look at the governors from the last 30 years. Some real winners there, huh? No worse than the clown there now. Nothing will ever change.

Frankly, for Louisiana, I’d rather have low taxes and a very low density agrarian society than what we have now.
