why dont they just make unemployment harder to claim
And risk being called racist? State politicians don't have that kind of backbone.

I'd really like to hear the logic of the serial downvoters in this thread.
Apparently, those individuals think that people should not work and be given money freely while the rest of us pay for it.

Yeah, I did a double take on the title from that fact alone. WTF

Won’t these people just do the math and realize 6 months of unemployment is greater than $1K though?
One will figure it out and pass it along, they’re not all that smart.

Or...ya know...maybe end the extra UE benefits like every other state is doing

Louisiana needs to suspend the additional federal UI benefits and push New Orleans to eliminate all Covid restrictions.
Too many people in the restaurant and hospitality industry that are staying home because there isn’t a carrot for them. Business is down because of the restrictions so they aren’t going to pull in enough income to justify turning down those government dollars.
Edwards isn’t going to push the mayor of New Orleans to do anything. She’s probably the 3rd or 4th most powerful Democrat in the state.

Louisiana is so fricked. I spent 30 years as a LA resident. Got tired of paying LA state taxes just so a bunch of no good freeloaders could sit around and do nothing. I bought a second home/rental property in FL, and the first thing I did was become a FL resident. No more state taxes for me ever again! Oh, and my rental property in FL pays for my LA mortgage. I recommend this to anyone who can do the same. Just stop paying LA taxes. They can figure it out in BR.

So, as a taxpayer who never stopped working I get the honor of paying a loser to go back to work? Yeah, frick all that.

Take the bonus, start a job, go back on unemployment
You are getting downvoted but I think people are missing that you are saying that is what people are going to do. Is it a one time payment only, or if you go back on benefits and come back do you get another $1k?
Posted on 5/14/21 at 8:36 am to stout
Better to start rewarding those that work. Pay a benefit to those who have been employed for the last 6 months and say you will do it again in 6 months. Watch what happens

Why are Louisiana republicans so shitty?
Because they are really conservative Democrats. Go look back mid to early 90’s. A lot of them were registered Dems. It wasn’t until Foster won that a lot of them changed their affiliation.

Or, oh i dont know... stop paying people to be lazy fricks to begin with.
Posted on 5/14/21 at 8:51 am to stout
Can I get that bonus if I never stopped working?
Posted on 5/14/21 at 8:51 am to stout
how about just stop the unemployment benefits.
Posted on 5/14/21 at 8:52 am to lsuhunt555
I think you just refuse to continue the federal “boost” payments instead which brings the joys of unemployment down to much lower levels
Like many other states are doing
Give the money back rather than spend more

You didn't read it. It says you waive your right to benefits for 6 months
Great in theory. Do you expect Workforce Commission to catch it? They don't have the talent, software, or likely the desire to enforce that.
