Just stop paying LA taxes. They can figure it out in BR.

BR will never figure it out. I moved here in 2020 and filed my 2019 federal taxes using my BR address. Then my mistake was to try to pay my 2021 Louisiana taxes quarterly. That triggered them to send me a notice that I filed taxes for 2019 using a Louisiana address and didn't file Louisiana state taxes. Well, I didn't live in Louisiana in 2019. So then they wanted driver's license, voter registration, car registration for Texas. Well, you know, I had already changed all of that to Louisiana by then. Finally came up with enough pieces of paper to satisfy them that I lived in Texas. So now they want copies of W-2's and 1099's for 2019. Not sure it is any of their business how much money I made in 2019 since none of it was earned in Louisiana and I didn't even live here then. Besides, I am retired and that's the reason I moved back to Louisiana. So I don't have W-2's. Tried to explain that to them, but haven't heard back. We'll see.

Welcome home.

Louisiana is so fricked. I spent 30 years as a LA resident. Got tired of paying LA state taxes just so a bunch of no good freeloaders could sit around and do nothing. I bought a second home/rental property in FL, and the first thing I did was become a FL resident. No more state taxes for me ever again!

Aren't income taxes based on where you work, not where you live?
