Baton Rouge needs a new bridge south of the city regardless if I-49 from Lafayette to New Orleans is ever built.
100% agreed.
There is no escaping the need for a new bridge in the Plaquemine area. It’s been needed for at least 20 years already. The question is if it’s a part of a larger future loop or not.

I-14 being authorized in this legislation would be good to help regionals. Also decreases need for the loop.
Where would I-14 cross the MS river? Natchez? Near Woodville, MS?

This has long been the plan
We'd probably see some changes if it every got off the ground.
Texas has already signed part of highway 190 in Killeen as I-14. Texas is always way ahead of the game when it comes to infrastructure.
ETA: map is kind of shitty because some towns aren't in the right place but that's the general idea.

In other news, the State of Louisiana is reducing its own spending on roads and bridges by about $6 billion over the next 5 years. Those funds will be reallocated to the State’s general slush fund.

Ah…someone has been paying attention to the Louisiana legislature over the past 50 years.

No loop for Baton Rouge?
You don’t need a loop.
Maybe not...
If we could bring the Ice Road Truckers down here and show locals how to drag minor fender benders or broken down shite cars to the next exit and off the road. Sorry, I don't give a crap about the one person's insurance claim. Take some pictures before a trucker drags it off the road. The road side assistance vehicles need tow capabilities and lets add some dash cams to show the scene as they arrived.
Why should everyone sit in hours of traffic for some minor accident or breakdown? Clear the artery from obstructions ASAP!

6 billion out of 3.5 trillion dollar bill?

On the existing Videlia bridge in Natchez most likely. I guess eventually they may add another bridge once the route is fully built…decades from now.
Sounds like they have funding to build a few segments around Alexandria. Not the whole route. I think it’s going to just include upgrades to highway 28 and a new interstate designation.

Why does the proposed I-14 turn north after Alexandria? It goes up to I-20 instead of going through the middle, in-between I-20 and I-10.
If you're going from out West to the northeast or even Atlanta you can just take I-20 and if you're going to the gulf coast, that turn up north makes it a no-go.
I understand the military bases make it look like its for national defense but who are we kidding?

Replace Jimmy Davis Bridge in Shreveport/Bossier.
That bridge is being held up by rust and bird crap.

It does split the difference between 10 and 20.
In Louisiana/Mississippi, it’s going to connect Natchez to the Fort Polk area. Then move west towards the part of it already being planned in east Texas around Jasper. Eastward it will eventually meet up with I-20, but I didn’t think it would do that until way out in Augusta, GA.
It’s going to follow the highway 28 route pretty closely in Louisiana.
Not that it matters. I-14 is probably going to take 50 years to build.

So the multi trillion dollar infrastructure bill has 110 billion for roads and bridges?

Louisiana where they finance road construction that is supposed to last 20 years at best with 30 and 40 year old bonds. (Look it up)
1 billion in bribes and bullshite
4 billion in profit for politicians buddies
500 million in waste cost overruns
Will leave maybe 500 million or about 3 shitty bridges

In 10 years the roads and bridges will be the same and the money will have disappeared.
