Louisiana folks, what do ya'll think of James Lee Burke?

I think he is a wonderful author and read everything I can find by him. Robicheaux series is my favorite.

I read the first few of the Robichaux series years ago and they were ok. Need to get back into it and finish the series.
I think “Last Car to Elysian Fields” was the last one I started.

He’s great, love the way he describes the beauty of our bayou country. He has some good western books (Holland series) set in Montana also where he summers.

Haven’t read any of his work (or listened to rather. Road trips for work have made me an audiobook kind of guy) but I want to start. Greg Isles names drops him a few times in the Penn Cage series and that’s how I really started to know his name and characters.

Big fan of James Lee. His prose is so good it will make you drive thru a fetid, electric green marsh reeking of Spanish moss and ozone, in search of a perfectly fried catfish poboy, three Budweisers, two shots of Jack and a can of night crawlers.

Randy Wayne White and James Lee Burke are my two faves for LA and FL based thrillers. I devoured just about every one of their books.

I’m not a fan of fiction. I read non-fiction and history, but I love James Lee Burke. I have read all his books. Born and raised in Louisiana so I truly appreciate his characters and location placement.

John Goodman was the obvious choice. He played Baby Feet in Electric Mist (a truly incredible cast but it was as though they just stopped making the movie before they finished it). No Cletus.
Heaven’s Prisoner’s was a great cast too. Also meh movie. And also no Cletus.
I’ve met JLB a few times. In Missoula. Got to know his daughter Pamala (RIP).
Had a fun night out with James Crumley there shortly before he died. They were working on some movie. Maybe Last Good Kiss.

I read every book he wrote for awhile. Eventually they got to be the same book with a few different tweaks. I haven’t read him in 10 years or so. Seems like a great guy. Splits time btw Montana and New Iberia.

I only found about him recently. Don't really have an opinion yet, but several of the other posters in the tigerdroppings thread where I first heard of him seemed like they have positive opinions about him.

Read some of his books, watched a couple movies from his books but my favorite thing with JLB is....he is quoted for saying saying something like 'only God could create a Martin'. As in the greatest acoustic guitars ever made...Martin.
