No way to spin hospitalizations and ventilator #'s both going down as anything but good news

Area 7 (Shreveport/Bossier) have the most hospitalizations.

I didn't know that you could find hospitalizations by area on the LDH dash. Area 4 had 80 yesterday and 79 today.

Sure, if you're looking at today's numbers alone. The last week, though, hospitalizations are up a bit. Vents are stable, at least.

Not enough to be concerned about, but not decreasing like previous weeks. Hopefully we've just hit a baseline point where some weeks might be up some and some weeks might be down some.

Of the new cases 536 of them are younger than 40.

410 are younger than 30.

Spike is certainly being led by the youngest and least vulnerable. This is the same trend we have seen over the last several days so hospitalization and deaths should not see a corresponding bump.

our pediatrician just told my wife that the testing and positives in young kids and young adults are going up due to kids being tested for camps and sports and they weren't testing kids as much as they are now, and the parents and siblings of the kids that test positive are being tested as well ....she said the kids have been having it the entire time but since they werent testing kids or people without symptoms there was no way of tracking it

and the media and the lefty lemmings want to close down the world for a weakened virus that doesn't do shite to healthy people ! Of course the media wants it to kill Trump, the lefty lemmings are just useful idiots.

Which is the only thing that should concern people. The shutdown is only done to help not overwhelm hospitals.

Sorry, but that line of reasoning was left behind months ago. Now, shutdowns are required until there is a vaccine (which may be years away from development, if ever) or "herd immunity" which the powers that be somehow seem to think is possible to achieve WITHOUT people getting the virus.

The farce that these measures were being done for "public health" reasons left the station LONG ago. This is now being used for political expediency. Only the naive still can't see that

bottom line....let the kids and young healthy people spread to each other....keep them away from the most vulnerable and keep the most vulnerable at home if they are scared of catching it

eta: and the fact that hospitals and vents are while positives are up shows us that is whats going on

This is true but more young people (15-25) are also getting it because they are going to parties/bars/traveling more now

But this is how these viruses work. All we did by locking down is delaying the spread that was going to occur no matter what

right, thats why the poster earlier said the majority of the positive test are coming from people under the age of 30

Yeah the goalposts have definitely moved. Somehow now we are supposed to eradicate the virus with no upticks even though we will lift more restrictions. It's counter-intuitive.

Did anyone else feel like JBE's tone on Monday was that of a parent putting a child in timeout? "Oh you didn't listen so now you get 4 more weeks in Phase 2!!!"

There is no reason for them not to .. bars are open (capacity may/may not be being enforced); traveling doesn't have restrictions; parties -- groups under what 200/250 are allowed?

I am tired of people that I know bashing the kids for spreading this. They're not doing anything illegal .. say oh like the looters/rioters did.

That's what I'm thinking and where I'm taking the good news from today's stats. Not necessarily thrilled about the amount each went down, just the fact that they didn't go up period.

Why does LDH continue to randomly change elements of the dashboard and downloadable data? I've been exporting the Case Count Over Time dataset every day for the last 2+ months, and then all of a sudden today, it's not there anymore. They've changed things like this several times already with no warning. If you're going to put out reports at least keep them consistent for frick's sake. Now I have to change all my spreadsheet tables that I keep for reporting numbers to my company.

So much for hospitalizations “trending up”

Like I said in a post yesterday.... an increase of 40 people in the hospital ONE day does not mean were averaging 40 new people a day.... we never were TRENDING up...people don't know what TRENDING means.

Looking forward to KTBS NOT reporting the hospitalization stat today after talking about it going up for the past 2 days.

Does anyone know how LDH is calculating Percent Positive on their website? I see in their chart that they have the percent positive for June 13th @ 11.5% which is 7 points than the stats would suggest (1,288 new cases/24,849 tests). It looks like none Percent Positives actually match the daily posted stats?

Am I missing something?
